The utter politicking by Congress following the demise of Former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has showcased crystal clear the kind of respect the party and Rahul Gandhi holds for its senior members. It has time and again proven itself as a political group that values none other than the dynasty, the Gandhi family. Congress did not even spare the demise of Manmohan Singh and tried to turn it into a political slugfest for vested political interests.
Since 27th of December, it has repeatedly tried to create a brouhaha upon the cremation and memorial for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. And, now ironically, the leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi has flown to Vietnam to celebrate the Gregorian New Year while the entire country mourns Singh’s demise.

Initially the party resorted to cheap politics where it demanded a separate memorial for the Former Prime Minister, hours following his demise. The call for a separate memorial for Dr. Manmohan Singh marks a shift from the previous stance of the party-led UPA government, which had rejected proposals for individual memorials for former prime ministers in Delhi. In 2000, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government opted against creating separate memorials for different leaders, citing the limited space at the Raj Ghat area, which already occupied more than 245 acres of valuable land in Delhi.
In 2013, the Manmohan Singh-led UPA-II government decided to establish a unified memorial ground at Raj Ghat, known as Rashtriya Smriti Sthal, for the last rites of prominent figures. The memorial for former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also held at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal in 2018, along the banks of the Yamuna River.
Moreover, Congress has a past of disrespecting its senior leaders like late President Pranav Mukherjee and late PM PV Narasimha Rao. Despite PV Narshimha Rao’s significant contributions, he was denied a Delhi funeral in 2004, and the Congress party distanced itself from his legacy for years, even his body was not allowed to enter the party headquarters. In contrast, the Modi government honored him with a memorial in 2015. Similarly, after the demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee, Congress, under Sonia Gandhi’s leadership, did not care to even call the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.
This uncovers the abject contempt the Gandhi family holds towards its senior leaders and the vote bank politics it indulges in, even at the demise of nonegarian Dr. Singh.
The absence of the Gandhi family and Congress leaders during the Asthi Visarjan of Dr. Manmohan Singh on the 29th of December at the Yamuna Ghat near the Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tila Sahib too showcases the amount of respect the Gandhi family and Congress party garners for the late PM.
Surpassing all the limits of morality, the leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has flown to Vietnam to mark his happy days of New Year. The country is mourning the demise of its former Prime Minister but for Rahul Gandhi, it is the clubs, party and the enjoyment which matters the most.

Calling Dr Manmohan Singh his mentor, and raising loud voices accusing Bharatiya Janata Party of disrespecting the only Sikh Prime Minister was all nothing but a hoax and a political stunt to court the Sikh community to its side, especially in the wake of travesty it committed with them, including the dastardly 1984 pogrom and mocking it with Hua to Hua mindset.
