On Monday night, the Delhi Police arrested four accused and detained one juvenile in connection with the Narayana murder case. The latest discovery has shocked many as one of the arrested accused was also linked in the murder case of the deceased’s brother. The connections in the double murder of Hindu brothers have pointed towards a failed Love Jihad attempt. Let’s go through the case development and what we know so far.
On Saturday, a 36-year-old man named Manoj was stabbed to death in a park under the limits of Naraina Police Station. The police later arrested two juveniles and interrogated them. In the course of the investigation the police have so far arrested four individuals and detained three juveniles.
The arrested accused have been identified as Md. Akhtar (62), Md Maksood (49), Angoori (35), and Juhi Khatoon (34). Juhi Khatoon is the wife of Maksood.
The case grabbed attention when Manoj’s family blocked the road with his body and protested in Naraina.
But the case took a different turn when it was revealed that one of the detained juveniles was also involved in the murder of Manoj’s younger brother Pramod, killed a few months ago.
Providing details of the investigation, DCP Delhi West Vichitra Veer said, “The deceased, Manoj, was about 36 years old. He was stabbed to death in a park in the Naraina police station area on Saturday evening. Two minors have been detained in this case, and their interrogation is ongoing. Manoj’s younger brother, Pramod, was also murdered a few months ago. The 15-year-old minor detained for Manoj’s murder was also involved in Pramod’s murder. Efforts are being made to determine the motive behind the murder.”
Although the police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder, Manoj’s sister-in-law and Pramod’s wife revealed that Pramod was killed months ago and Manoj was witness in the case and was fighting for justice for his younger brother.
What she said next was even more shocking. She said that Pramod once saw a girl from his area with a boy. He told about it to the girl’s parents and so in anger he killed Pramod. Subsequently, he has now killed Manoj, she said.
As per media reports, the Pramod had alerted Hindu parents about a Muslim man trapping their daughter in Love Jihad which is being said to be the underlying reason for the Islamist ire against Pramod.
The exact motive of the double murders is yet to be known, but it can not be a coincidence that both the Hindu brothers were killed by the same accused within a short span of few months. Moreover, the police probe and a common juvenile’s involvement in both the cases validates the statement of Pramod’s wife up to some extent.
The involvement of four Islamist accused with different age groups and a couple has further raised concerns that the murder was not just the outcome of an juvenile impulsive action but a well-planned crime to hide something or save someone. The way the case has turned out and the involvement of adults including women, it strengthens media reports that Pramod was killed for saving a Hindu girl from being trapped in Love Jihad. And to hide the motive behind Pramod’s murder, his brother Manoj was also killed a few days ago.
