A court on 28th of November has issued an injunction to safeguard the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Toronto, Canada. Aimed to curb It has come up with an order that no protests must be allowed on 30th November within a 100-meter radius to the temple as it will be hosting a consular camp that day.
The injunction, granted by a judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario after the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, located in Scarborough, filed the application to ensure the safety of its visitors and the smooth conduct of the consular camp.
These consular camps, organized annually by India’s missions, assist Indian pensioners with administrative tasks such as obtaining life certificates. The temple’s management sought judicial intervention amid threats from Khalistani terrorist groups like Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), who have targeted such camps in the past.
The judge ruled in favor of the temple stating, “On the balance of probabilities, the applicant has satisfied the elevated requirements of a motion for an injunction restraining the protesters from encroaching the 100-metre perimeter of the applicant’s temple.”
The court emphasized the likelihood of harm if the injunction was not granted and directed law enforcement agencies, including the Toronto Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police, to enforce the order.
“There is a significant likelihood of harm if the court does not grant the injunction”, the court concluded.
The injunction prohibits protests, interference, or intimidation of visitors within the designated perimeter. People would face arrest if they violate the orders. The restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 30th November.
Earlier this month on 3rd November, Khalistani goons stormed the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Canada, attacking Hindu devotees, including women and children. Disturbingly, Peel Regional Police, who arrived on the scene with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) instead of detaining Khalistanis, targeted the Hindu devotees using batons and even striking some devotees in the head.
