Why can’t “The Hindu” call a Terrorist A Terrorist?

“The Hindu” describes terrorist who killed 7 people as ‘Militants’

On the night of Sunday (October 20, 2024) the nation was busy celebrating Karva Chauth. Women were fasting for the long life of their husbands, praying and worshipping. And it so happened that with the moon as a witness, lakhs of couples were busy strengthening their sacred relationship. Amidst all this, some families might not be able to forget the pain they received on the day of Karva Chauth for the rest of their lives. They have received this pain from terrorists. The day the women of these houses had been praying for the long life of their husbands, by the end of the same day, they lost their spouses. Well, now let’s know about the whole matter.

Remember the decade of the nineties when such a violent campaign was launched against the Kashmiri Pandits that they had to leave the valley and migrate, living like refugees in their own country. We are talking of Jammu and Kashmir because a day after the swearing-in of the National Conference (NC) government, a Hindu man was murdered by terrorists. Now 7 people have been murdered.

And do you know how the media of our country is showing this? The Hindu, the same newspaper about which people say that if you read it, you will clear the UPSC exam. Do you know how The Hindu has published the news of the killings in Jammu and Kashmir? The headline of this newspaper said “Militants gun down seven in Kashmir, Say Officials.” Which in Hindi means “अधिकारियों का कहना है कि लड़ाकों ने कश्मीर में 7 लोगों को गोली मार दी।

Target killing by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

The headline is important but before that it is more important for you to know what exactly has happened in Jammu and Kashmir. Have you ever eaten corn? Soft corn is cooked on fire and eaten by rubbing lemon and salt on it. This is called corn. Poor Ashok Chauhan from Bihar had gone to Kashmir to earn money, he used to sell corn. He had come to make a living for his family; now his family has his dead body & countless memories. He was only 30 years old. He had not gone there to do wrong. He used to put up a cart roadside, feed corn to Kashmiris, and earn some money in return. The incident happened in Shopian where he was killed. The ashes of Ashok Chauhan had barely cooled when terrorists opened fire at a tunnel site in Ganderbal and killed 7. The 3 killed were from Bihar. Among the dead was a doctor and 6 were labourers. ‘The Resistance Force’, i.e. TRF, which was associated with the Pakistani terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, has accepted responsibility for this attack. What was their mistake, well their mistake was that they were employed to dig for the tunnel of the central government. This is the same TRF, which is targeting Kashmiri Pandits till date.

He called Non-Kashmiri Indians outsiders during election campaign & enemies of Kashmir and 8 Non-Kashmiri Indians killed by radical Islamists in Sonmarg, Ganderbal & Shopian in the last 72 hours.

Dear Indians
Just think and vote wisely whether it is state or national elections. pic.twitter.com/tOEXFk0DKJ

— Baba Banaras™ (@RealBababanaras) October 21, 2024

The number of victims includes those like Punjab’s Gurmeet Singh, Anil Shukla and Faheem Nazir from Bihar. Both Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims are among them.

The terrorists nurtured by Pakistan have such an orientation that everyone who is working for the Government of India who considers the Government of India as his own government is their enemy. The poor labourers had gathered in the mess to eat food, they were gunned down there. The message being delivered is that, anyone who is contributing to the development of Kashmir even by lifting a brick, he will meet the same fate, will have to die.

Shashi Abrol is one among the dead. His wife and family members are crying inconsolably. The family members say that no one should have to see such a Karwa Chauth. The only earning person in the family is gone.

The Hindu misleading the people:

Now what does “The Hindu” say on this incident? It doesn’t call these terrorists terrorists in its headline but calls them Militants. It’s not possible that such a big media institution of the country with the experienced people working in it does not know the difference between terrorists and Militants. There is a difference between those terrorists who shed the blood of innocents and Militants who fight against the unjust. If the terrorists of Kashmir are Militants, then what injustice are they fighting against & what are they fighting for? So it means that in their eyes the Indian government is an aggressor, an oppressor, an unjust? Will children clear UPSC by studying this? By feeding anti national thoughts to their minds?

Many videos of this incident surfaced in the media as well as social media. Bodies are mutilated and bullet riddled. Blood is visible too. But what The Hindu says? Well iIt says, officials claim that these people are killed. Cannot be the case that the people sitting in The Hindu cannot tell by looking at the bodies whether these people are dead or alive. Its meaning is clear – all this is being done deliberately for some agenda. Suppose you are a journalist. You can hear the sound of rain outside. What will you do to publish the news? The first way could be that you will open the window and look, then write that it is raining. The other way could be that you will call your neighbour, then publish the news that my neighbour says it is raining. The Hindu is adopting the second way. Because this again fits in its agenda. The dead bodies are visible, yet it is hesitant to say even this straightforward thing that the terrorists killed 7 innocent people.

Trend of glorifying terrorists

Media organisations like the BBC also don’t call these terrorists, who have been killing innocent people for the last several decades, terrorists. They also use the word Militant, i.e. fighter. In Hindi, they are written as extremists. BBC is a government media organisation of Britain, it publishes news according to its country’s agenda. At least, this should have gone through the Hindu’s head that it is not a foreign news house; it is an Indian one. The name is Hindu, the company is from India-but the news appears to be running on Pakistan’s agenda.

By the way, glorification of terrorists by a particular gang of Indian media is not a new thing. Riyaz Naiku, who turned many youths of Kashmir into terrorists, was also promoted as a Mathematics teacher and sometime a painter after his death in an encounter. Sometimes media portals like The Quint glorify Osama bin Laden, the dreaded terrorist of Al Qaeda, calling him ‘a good father and a husband’. It is meaningless to expect from such media organisations that they will call a terrorist a terrorist.
