A recent incident from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, has once again deeply hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. The discovery of a severed cow tail outside a temple has led to a tense situation throughout the city. Sadhus, saints, and public representatives took to the streets in strong protest, only to be met with police batons. The question is, how long will the Hindu community have to endure such insults and atrocities?
This is not the first time that the Hindu community has been targeted in this manner. Numerous instances of desecration of Hindu religious sites and symbols have occurred before. Incidents of vandalism in temples in Karnataka’s coastal districts, violence during Durga Puja in Delhi, and the disrespect of religious idols during Kali Puja in Bengal—these all seem to be part of a deliberate conspiracy against the Hindu community.
Even before the Bhilwara incident, similar events have taken place in Rajasthan. In 2021, an incident in Chittorgarh district, where idols of deities were desecrated in a temple, shook the entire state. Despite this, the lack of decisive action by the administration has emboldened the perpetrators.
Such behavior towards the Hindu community not only wounds religious sentiments but also weakens the social fabric. The question arises, how long will the administration and governments remain silent on these repeated attacks on Hindu sentiments? Is there no value to the pain and religious sentiments of the Hindu community?
The police lathi charge on Hindu protesters and the closure of all markets in the city highlight serious flaws in the state’s system. It is crucial that the administration takes strict action against the culprits of this incident and ensures justice for the Hindu community.
The tolerance of the Hindu community should not be mistaken for weakness. The Hindu community must stand united against these recurring insults and atrocities. It is time for both the administration and society to work together to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
