One of these 4 will the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan
Share on FacebookShare on X

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieving a majority in Rajasthan led to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot resigning. This reflects Rajasthan’s pattern of changing governments every five years. The key question now is who will become the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not yet announced its chief ministerial candidate for Rajasthan, several key figures have emerged as potential contenders. These include Vasundhara Raje, a two-time Chief Minister; Diya Kumari, an MLA from Vidyadhar Nagar; Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the victor from Jhotwara constituency.

Candidate 1: Vasundhara Raje Scindia

In the context of Rajasthan’s recent political shift, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained a majority, the focus has shifted to the next potential Chief Minister. Vasundhara Raje, a senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister, emerges as a significant candidate.

BJP leader Bahadur Singh Koli, in a statement in Jaipur, emphasized the public’s desire for Raje to assume the Chief Ministerial role again. He indicated that this sentiment would be highlighted in the next party meeting. Koli’s statement underscores the influence of public opinion in party deliberations.

Raje’s influence within the party and her past experience as Chief Minister are evident. This is demonstrated by several newly elected BJP MLAs visiting her as a gesture of respect following the party’s substantial victory in the state assembly elections. Such visits reflect her standing in the party and potential support for her candidacy.

Furthermore, Raje’s personal electoral success adds weight to her candidacy. Her victory in the Jhalrapatan constituency against Congress’s Ramlal showcases her political strength and popularity in the region.

These developments suggest Raje as a prominent contender for the Chief Minister’s position. Her experience, recent electoral success, and the backing of party members and the public significantly bolster her chances. However, the final decision rests with the party’s higher echelons and internal dynamics, which will play a crucial role in determining the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

Candidate 2: Diya Kumari

Diya Kumari, representing Vidyadhar Nagar, has expressed deference to the party’s top leadership regarding the Chief Minister selection. She conveyed to IndiaToday.in that the decision about accepting the Chief Minister position is not hers to make but rests with the party’s higher echelons.

Candidate 3: Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, another strong candidate, in an interview with India Today/Aajtak, mentioned that being Chief Minister would be a significant opportunity and vowed to serve with “courage” if chosen. Notably, he expressed this sentiment even before winning his election, signaling his interest and readiness for the role. Now that he has won his constituency with thumping majority, his candidature is pretty strong. Since he has been moved from Center to the state, it could be seen as PM Modi’s blessing to Rathore to lead the state.

Candidate 4: Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena

Kirodi Lal Meena, who secured a win in the Sawai Madhopur assembly constituency, is a notable figure within the BJP in Rajasthan. His victory over the Indian National Congress candidate by a substantial margin of 22,510 votes highlights his political strength. Additionally, his involvement in significant actions like the Enforcement Directorate raids on Vaibhav Gehlot, exposing Benami properties, underscores his influence and capabilities.

These candidates, each with their unique strengths and political backgrounds, present a diverse choice for the BJP in selecting the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Their individual electoral successes, party roles, and public statements reflect their readiness and ambition for the role. The final decision will depend on various factors, including party strategy, internal dynamics, and regional considerations.

So to sum it all up, the BJP’s choice for Rajasthan’s Chief Minister will be critical, considering the varied profiles and strengths of the contenders. Vasundhara Raje’s experience, Diya Kumari’s deference to party leadership, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore’s expressed readiness, and Kirodi Lal Meena’s influential role in the state’s politics each offer different perspectives for the party’s future direction in Rajasthan. The decision will ultimately reflect the party’s strategic priorities and vision for the state’s governance.
