The drama unfolded when Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, along with her husband Anand Ahuja, decided to send a defamatory legal notice to an aspiring YouTuber who goes by the handle @raginyy. YouTuber Raginyy, with less than 15,000 subscribers at the time, had the audacity to create a video critiquing Sonam’s statements and opinions. The video was, in essence, an overview of why Sonam Kapoor had become the target of ridicule for her often-obnoxious statements. However, Sonam’s reaction to this small video was nothing short of astonishing. She resorted to bullying tactics by sending a legal notice to the YouTuber Raginyy and demanding the removal of the video from the platform.

The legal notice claimed that the video, posted by content creator Raginyy, had an adverse impact on the reputation of Sonam Kapoor, her husband Anand Ahuja, and their fashion brands. The mention of the “reputation of Sonam Kapoor” elicited more laughter than concern. It seemed as though Sonam’s ego had taken center stage in this battle.

But the hilarity didn’t stop there. The notice went on to say, “The reported fake post is illegally uploaded content belonging to our client Ms. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja.” This reference was made to the video in which Sonam Kapoor had been roasted. The notice further stated, “These actions are not authorized by our clients. Kindly delete the reported link and ensure that you do not allow your platform to be used for the mentioned activities.”
However, this legal threat took a turn for the worse for Sonam Kapoor. The social media community reacted swiftly, and it wasn’t in her favor. Sonam found herself at the receiving end of relentless trolling for her arrogant stance. Ironically, the YouTuber Raginyy, who had barely managed to gather 4,000 views on her video before the notice, saw an astonishing surge, with over 1,63,000 views and counting. Her Instagram following also skyrocketed from a modest 7,000 to an impressive 35,000 within weeks of the fiasco.
In the wake of this charade, one couldn’t help but feel that individuals like Raj Kundra and Tony Kakkar, who have had their share of controversies, suddenly seemed less reprehensible. Despite their less-than-stellar actions, they had never stooped to the level of schoolyard bullying seen in Sonam Kapoor’s actions. But then, we must remember that this is Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, for whom ethics and decency seem to be nothing more than a distant concept.
In a world where freedom of speech and expression is highly valued, it’s crucial to understand that criticism is an inherent part of public life, especially for public figures like Sonam Kapoor. When someone gains fame and fortune, they inevitably become subject to the scrutiny of the masses. While constructive criticism can be a valuable tool for personal and professional growth, Sonam’s response to the YouTube video left much to be desired.
It’s baffling to witness a public figure resort to legal threats and bullying tactics when faced with criticism.
