Congress and Bhindranwale Exposed: R&AW Whistleblower Tells All

What used to be mere gossip and speculation surrounding Congress’s connections with the Khalistani extremist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has now been confirmed as chilling reality. In a recent episode of ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, GBS Sidhu, a former special secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), shed light on the murky ties between Congress leaders and Bhindranwale. The revelations that have come to the surface are nothing short of shocking.

Sidhu disclosed that Congress leaders Kamal Nath and the late Sanjay Gandhi, son of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, were involved in sending funds to the militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. Bhindranwale, whose name is synonymous with Operation Blue Star in 1984, was a central figure in the turbulent times of Punjab. Sidhu’s claims offer a glimpse into the intricate web of politics and extremism that gripped the nation.

According to Sidhu, the political leadership of that era had a sinister motive in their association with Bhindranwale. They intended to use him as a tool to “scare the Hindus” and orchestrate the creation of an issue surrounding Khalistan, a concept that was virtually non-existent at the time. Their aim was to instill fear and apprehension among the masses regarding the integrity of the country.

In Sidhu’s own words, “At that time, the method used was Bhindranwale Khalistan. So, they will use Bhindranwale to scare the Hindus & a new issue will be created of Khalistan which was non-existent at that time. So that larger population of India starts thinking that there would be a danger to the integrity of the country…”

What’s even more disturbing is the revelation that Congress actively sought to recruit a “high-profile” saint who could be manipulated to serve their interests. Sidhu, who was in Canada during this period, recalled the hushed conversations about Congress’s ties with Bhindranwale. Kamal Nath, as quoted by Sidhu, openly admitted to their intentions, stating, “We wanted to recruit a very high-profile Sant who could do our bidding…He (Kamal Nath) also says – we used to send money to him. Kamal Nath & Sanjay Gandhi sent money to Bhindranwale…”

The implications of these revelations are profound. They suggest that, in pursuit of political gains and influence in Punjab, Congress was willing to stoke unrest and chaos by dividing two communities, Hindus and Sikhs, who had lived together in harmony for centuries and had collectively borne the scars of the Partition.

But the shocking disclosures don’t end there. Sidhu went on to claim that Bhindranwale never actually demanded Khalistan during his life. Instead, he asserted that he wouldn’t have refused it if Indira Gandhi had handed it to him on a silver platter. Sidhu’s words paint a picture of Bhindranwale being used as a pawn in a political game rather than a genuine advocate for Khalistan.

In his own words, Sidhu stated, “Bhindranwale never asked for Khalistan in his life, he would only say – ‘Agar Bibi, meaning Indira Gandhi, meri jholi mein daal degi toh naa bhi nahi karoonga’…They did not enlist religious sermons, they used him for political purposes.”

The revelations made by GBS Sidhu, a former R&AW official, provide a disturbing insight into a dark chapter of Indian history. They suggest that political leaders, driven by their own agendas, were willing to manipulate religious figures and stoke communal tensions for their own benefit. These revelations should serve as a reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in our political system and a call for a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics that shape our nation’s history.
