RSS in Canada: One notable aspect of the RSS is that it operates without feeling the need for public relations. While other organizations may seek to improve their public image, the RSS is content to focus on its core beliefs and activities. This is in keeping with the organization’s commitment to promoting Hinduism and cultural pride in India.
However, the organization’s Hindu nationalist approach has been a topic of criticism by some, who see it as promoting Hindu rashtra and opposing plurality. Domestic criticism is welcomed by the RSS, as it engages in healthy debate to defend its beliefs and activities. When criticized, the RSS counters with its contributions to society, which have often served to increase its popularity.
Hate mongers submit a report on human values
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) and the World Sikh Organization (WSO) have submitted a report to the Canadian government on the influence of RSS in Canada. Surprisingly, the WSO is also a supporter of the Khalistani cause in Canada. The report emphasises the RSS’s growing influence in Canada and the impact it has on people of Indian origin.
While the NCCM focuses on the plight of Muslims in India, claiming that they are second-class citizens, the WSO claims that the RSS seeks to erase their identity. As the report sparks debate, it is unclear how the Canadian government will respond to these allegations.

The report is full of propaganda to defame the organization. The first part, which includes a summary of the report, depicts a cartoon of Muslims being hanged, and the report says that the image was tweeted by an official account of the RSS. However, the reality is completely different. The image was based on the judicial conviction of the 38 victims of the Ahmedabad serial blast in 2008.
The report is a disgusting piece with foul and filthy rhetoric that seeks illogical criticism of the RSS because of its growing influence in Canada. It is more like a 60-page fear-driven piece that is worried about the increasing popularity of RSS and Hinduism in Canada, which has long been the haven for anti-India individuals and organisations.
People who are familiar with RSS know that it does not seek acceptance through PR or support from the government. They do indeed believe in people-to-people connectivity. This type of reach can only be made when an organisation is efficient enough to address the real issues of people and stay away from political gimmicks.

As a result of the overseas reach of RSS, not only Canada but also other countries having an Indian diaspora are witnessing pro-Hindu sentiments. But the anti-Indian organisations of Canada are feeling the pain just because they are a toolkit that is activated against India. The anti-India organisations enjoy the greatest significance in the governance of Canada.
Actually, the increased influence of Khalistan supporters and the government’s tacit consent to them has aroused resentment in the hindu population. So the hindus in Canada are feeling an urge to fight for their cultural richness that is being undermined in the country.
They believe that it is critical that the contribution of the Hindu community to the growth of Canada be promoted. Apart from that, it is their duty to defy the pro-khalistani elements that are enriching hatred against Hinduism in the hearts of other Sikhs.

Even the MPs are targeted
In line with that, Chandra Arya, the Member of Parliament of Canada, hoisted the “Aum”-printed orange flag on Parliament Hill. It was on the occasion of the historic beginning of Canada’s national Hindu Heritage Month (HHM). HHM provided an opportunity to recognise the contributions of 830,000 Hindu-Canadians to the country and of Hindu heritage to mankind.

When asked about supporting the RSS, Arya said, “The Aum flag raised on Parliament Hill represents the Hindu faith and does not represent or indicate support for any political organisation or ideology. This auspicious symbol belongs to all Hindus, and no country or organisation can claim ownership or exclusivity over it.”
Arya also claimed that since hoisting the flag, he has been targeted by anti-India and anti-Hindu elements. It is understandable that radical islamist and khalistani groups would publish reports on religious liberty and radicalization in a country where an elected representative is targeted for practising his religion.

The question is for Canada
The main question that arises is regarding the authority of Canada. In the past, when Khalistani supporters engaged in anti-India activities in Canada, it was the Indian government that raised objections. And Canada being Canada, has consistently expressed its desire for open dialogues on all aspects of human values.
Now, with the release of this report, Canada will need to demonstrate whether it truly upholds these values. Regardless of the direction this debate may take, one fact remains clear: unlike Khalistan, the RSS is a peaceful organization that takes pride in India’s cultural richness and works for the betterment of its people.
