Hari Ki Pauri is one of the most sacred ghats of Haridwar and the only place where all spiritual activities take place. Har ki Pauri is a revered site that is visited by a large number of devotees and visitors to offer their prayers by having a darshan of the holy Ganges. The literal meaning of the word ‘Har Ki Pauri’ is- “Har” means “Lord Shiva”, “Ka means” and “Pauri” means “step”. Lord Vishnu is believed to have visited Brahmakund at Har Ki Pauri.

History of this Temple

The history of Hari Ki Pauri Haridwar, which is one of the most sacred ghats of India, is more than twenty centuries old, the credit for its construction is given to King Vikramaditya.
