Durgiana Mandir Amritsar – Guide

Durgiana Mandir is a famous Hindu temple located in Amritsar city of Punjab. The presiding deity of this temple is Durga Mata Ji. This temple has been named Durgiana Mandir after the name of Goddess Durga. This temple is a very famous temple of Hindus located in Punjab. The idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu are also enshrined in this temple complex, hence this temple is known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple among the devotees.

History of this Temple

It is told about the history of Durgiana Mandir Amritsar, that there was a tree in the courtyard of this temple in which Luv and Kush tied the Ashwamedh Yagya of Maharaja Shri Ram. Later, Hanuman ji, who came to rescue this horse, was also tied to this tree. Since then this temple had become very famous. The original temple here was constructed in the 16^th century. Later in 1921 AD, Harsai Mal Kapoor ji built the present form of this temple. This temple built at that time was inaugurated by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.

The Durgiana Mandir Amritsar remains open throughout the week. You can come to visit this temple any day. This temple opens daily at 6:00 am. Devotees worship in this temple throughout the day and this temple closes at 10:00 pm.

The Golden Temple is also known as Harmandir Sahib, which means everyone’s temple or home. It is the holiest Gurdwara of Sikhs located in Amritsar city of Punjab. This Gurudwara was built by Guru Ram Das Ji in 1577 AD.

Jallianwala Bagh is a monument of historical and national importance. This garden is located in Amritsar, near the Golden Temple Complex. The memorial has been built in the memory of those who were injured and killed in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on 13 April 1919.

Partition Museum 

The Partition Museum is a public museum located in the Town Hall of Amritsar. The museum houses stories, materials and documents related to the riots that took place after the partition of India. The museum was opened to the general public on 25 August 2017.

Gobindgarh Fort

Gobindgarh Fort is a historical military fort located in the city of Amritsar. The fort was initially maintained by the army, but was opened to the public from February 2017. This fort has been developed as a museum and theme park.

Akal Takht

Akal Takht is one of the five Takhts of the Sikhs. It is located in the Darbar Sahib complex of Amritsar. Akal Takht was built by Sri Guru Hargobind Ji for justice and settlement of temporal issues. This Takht is the highest seat of authority of the Khalsa and the seat of the Jathedar, the supreme spokesman of the Sikhs.
