Dalai Lama’s unpredicted move for new Buddhist leader, leaves China baffled

Regardless of whether one identifies as Jewish or Buddhist, India will always hold a place of profound respect and gratitude in their collective memory.

New Buddhist leader: The Communists throughout the world have been walking a tight rope that is fully stretched by hypocrisy. For them, religion is the opium of the masses, yet they want to have control over the religious affairs of the people, which they forcefully occupy. But as per latest development it seems that the 14th Dalai Lama has paved way for future troubles for China.

Dalai Lama takes the lead

In 1949, Communist China forcefully invaded Tibet, a peaceful Buddhist nation. Since then, 6 out of every 10 Tibetans have been killed, 6,000 monasteries have been destroyed, and tens of thousands of Tibetans have been imprisoned. Since its forceful occupation of Tibet, China has been imposing its rules, customs, ideology, and language on the Tibetan people. It has been trying to sinisize these Tibetan people, which includes altering their religious beliefs and completely dismantling Buddhism in Tibet.

But reports suggest that the 14th Dalai Lama has taken significant steps that will hurt the Chinese Communist Party for a long time to come. The move to anoint the boy as the third highest lama is likely to irk China, which has maintained that it will only recognise Buddhist leaders chosen by the Chinese government.

Dalai Lama  has  named a Mongolian boy, born in the United States, as the 10th Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa Rinpoche – the third highest rank in Tibetan Buddhism

“We have the reincarnation of Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa Rinpoche of Mongolia with us today,” the Dalai Lama said during the ceremony attended by 5,000 monks and nuns, 600 Mongolians, and other members.

Unverified sources suggest that an eight-year-old boy, born in the United States in 2015, was selected as the Tenth Khalka in a ceremony held at Mongolia’s largest Monastery in late February. The ceremony was attended by the monastery’s abbot and senior lamas from Mongolia. But the Dalai Lama institution in Dhamashala has chosen to remain silent on the true identity of the new Mongolian Tibetan Buddhist leader until March 8 out of fear that the individual may be subjected to persecution by the Chinese regime. The secrecy surrounding the new leader’s identity serves as a reminder of the political and spiritual challenges faced by Tibetan Buddhism in the face of ongoing oppression.

Earlier, in 1995, when the Dalai Lama named the 11th Panchen Lama, Chinese authorities swiftly kidnapped him and his family, and he was never seen or heard of again. China then replaced the Panchen Lama, the second-most important spiritual leader in Tibetan Buddhism, with its own candidate.

According to the report, the Dalai Lama was pictured with the eight-year-old boy at a ceremony on March 8th in Dharamshala, where the new Buddhist leader lives in exile. The news of the ceremony was received with excitement and apprehension as the threat of China’s displeasure over the move lingered.

The eight-year-old has a twin brother and is the son of a university professor and the grandson of a former Mongolian member of parliament.

How the reincarnation of a previous lama is chosen

The selection of the Dalai Lama is a complex process that involves both religious and political considerations. Here are some key facts about the appointment and religious practises that were followed in the selection of the Dalai Lama (New Buddhist leader): The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and is believed to be the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama.

The process for selecting the Dalai Lama has traditionally involved a search for the child who is believed to be the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama. This child is identified through a combination of religious signs, visions, and tests. Once a child is identified as the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama, he is brought to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, where he is educated in Buddhist philosophy and trained to assume the role of the Dalai Lama.

In 2011, however, the Chinese foreign ministry declared that only the government in Beijing can appoint the next Dalai Lama and that no recognition should be given to any other candidate, but this is strongly opposed by the Tibetan government in exile and many supporters of the Dalai Lama. They argue that the Chinese government’s involvement in the selection of the Dalai Lama is a violation of religious freedom.

The recent appointment of Tenth Khalka Rinpoche as the new head of Tibetan Buddhism in Mongolia signifies a renewed sense of vitality for the religion in the region.

This move also serves as a testament to the 14th Dalai Lama’s unwavering stance against the Chinese Communist regime, demonstrating that he remains a formidable politico-religious leader of Tibet, despite being under the occupation of the Chinese regime. Moreover, the fact that the anointment ceremony took place in India sends a clear message to Beijing that the ongoing battle for control of the Tibetan plateau is far from over, even 73 years after the fall of Lhasa to Chinese communist forces.

The selection of the Dalai Lama is a complex and controversial issue that involves both religious and political considerations. The future of the institution of the Dalai Lama is likely to be shaped by ongoing debates about religious freedom, Tibetan autonomy, and the relationship between China and Tibet.

Regardless of whether one identifies as Jewish or Buddhist, India will always hold a place of profound respect and gratitude in their collective memory. This is due to India’s unique history as a nation that has provided sanctuary and support to communities facing persecution and oppression throughout the ages. From the Jewish diaspora to the Tibetan exiles, India has welcomed those in need with open arms, providing a safe haven for these displaced peoples to rebuild their lives and preserve their cultural and spiritual traditions. This legacy of compassion and generosity serves as a shining example of India’s commitment to upholding the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and humanity for all.
