Umiya Mata Mandir – Guide
The original temple of Umiya Mata Mandir was built around 1800 years ago in the Chalukya style. Uma Maa, the consort of Lord Shiva, is the second incarnation of Goddess Parvati and Kuldevi – the main goddess of the Kadva Patidar community.
This Umiya Mata Mandir situated in the centre of Unjha town of Mehsana district is the main pilgrimage site of Kadva Patidar. Unjha is also famous for its largest market for spices and seeds in the whole of Asia. It is also believed that Maa Uma Manir was established by Lord Shiva at Unjha.
History of this Temple
Raja vrajpal singhji of madhavati near uttar pradesh and bihar was defeated by raja chandrasen in the battle and had to flee to Gujarat. Then once he reached siddhapur and there he met his community and urged the king to stay here, king vrajpal stayed at unjha. He built the umiya mata temple here in the month of vikram samvat 212 with a grand yagya. This original temple was small, but the present grand temple built in vikram samvat 1943 with the contribution of all the families of the patidar community.
The present temple was built in Vikram Samvat 1943, and the year 1887 AD with contributions from each household of the Patidar community. This temple is started constructed by Shri Ram Chandra Mansukh Lal and after him by Shri Rai Bahadur Bechardas Lashkari.

Place to visit near this Temple
Paatan
Once upon a time, this place was situated 26 km west of Unjha during the time of capital Solankis. Rani ki Vav and Sahasmaling Lake are the most visited here.
Vadnagar
This town is the main area for Brahmins and is situated 40 km east of Unjha. Most of the pylons, Hatkeshwar Mahadev are seen here.
Siddhpur
This place is situated about 15 km north of Unjha. There is a famous Shiva temple by the name of Rudra Mahal which was once demolished by Alauddin Khilji.

How to reach Umiya Mata Mandir
To reach Umiya Mata Mandir You have to first reach Ahmedabad by flight, train or car from New Delhi or Mumbai, then reach Mehsana by bus or train, then from Mehsana you can again reach Unjha. A bus, train or taxi. To reach Unjha from Ahmedabad via Mehsana district, you have to take State Highway no.41.
