Shani Shingnapur Mandir Ahmednagar – Guide

Shani Shingnapur Mandir is a famous temple located in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The temple is famous for Lord Shani, who is believed to reside here in a black stone even today. People’s faith in Shani Shignapur temple is so strong that they do not use doors and locks in any house in the village. People here believe that Lord Shani protects their belongings from thieves.

History of this Temple

Talking about the history of Shani Shingnapur Mandir Ahmednagar, it is believed that many years ago a black stone was touched by a shepherd with a sharp object, after which the stone started bleeding. The whole village was shocked after this incident. Let us tell that the same night the shepherd saw Lord Shanishwar in his dream who told him that the black stone was his own form. After this the cowherd bowed down to the Lord and he asked the Lord whether a temple of the Lord should be built at that place.

He asked the cowherd to worship them daily and perform ‘tilabhishek’ every Saturday. Apart from this, he also said that his village would not be harmed by theft and loot. Hence, Lord Shanishwara is kept in an open yard even today. The most surprising thing here is that there are no locks and doors in any house in the village. Despite not having locks and doors in the houses till date, no incident of theft has come to the fore.
