AAP is using Delhi budget as a buffer to save its face

AAP is using Delhi budget as a buffer to save its face
Share on FacebookShare on X

Delhi Budget Analysis 2023: The biggest socio-political movement of the last decade succeeded in shaking the roots of 10 Janpath. But its biggest failure was the formation of the Aam Admi Party from its soul. Indian political history is filled with instances when social movements resulted in political parties and their heads degraded the principles of that movement when they attained power. This reminds me of the quote of Hannah Arendt, who said, “Revolutionaries do not make revolutions. The revolutionaries are those who know when power is lying in the street, and then they can pick it up.” The conditions suit the AAP as its real character is unfolding on a daily basis.

Delhi Budget 2023: Sisodia Takes Refuge

The Aam Admi Party has 62 seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly out of 70 seats. Still, it seems like it has a scarcity of talent. Manish Sisodia is holding 18 ministries, including those that are not allotted to anyone. The major departments are under his control, like Education, PWD, and Finance, among others. And he is in power despite the allegations and subsequent central investigation into the Liquor scam.

In a recent development in the case, the CBI postponed the questioning of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after they received a request from him. The questioning was to be done in connection with the Delhi Excise policy scam case.

While talking to reporters, Sisodia clarified the reason for his request, saying, “I have written to the CBI and asked for time for the last week of February as I am finalizing the budget of Delhi, and it is a crucial time. I have told them that I will come after the last week of February.”

Filthy Political Move

He used the Delhi budget as a shield to delay his unveiling of reality. This is actually a political move by him. The way he scrapped his own policy in a hurry gives a clear impression that the policy was a scam. And so, he is sure that the questioning will open up the reality. That is why he is using the budget as a buffer. The provisions of the budget will be made to appease the people of Delhi and divert their attention from the case.

This is a filthy political tactic by Manish Sisodia. This will not only set a bad example but also give people like him an opportunity to misuse a constitutional position. The question also arises for Arvind Kejriwal as to what extent he is going to bear these foul plays. And why he still holds these ministries alone.
