Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow on Wednesday. On arrival in Uttar Pradesh, Melinda Gates and her colleagues were greeted by the UP CM Yogi Adityanath. In a special meeting, Melinda Gates discussed ways to work together with the Uttar Pradesh government to enhance technical cooperation in health, nutrition and agriculture sectors.
Melinda Gates Praised the UP government’s Covid management
Melinda Gates appreciated UP’s efforts in controlling Covid and Japanese Encephalitis. She said that the work done by Uttar Pradesh in the recent years for the management of Covid and control of JE is an exemplary model. Gates said that the biggest challenge in the time of Covid was the population of the state, but UP has managed it efficiently. To the relationship of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with Uttar Pradesh, Melinda Gates said that BMGF has been working here for a long time in the field of health and social security.
Appreciation of UP’s digital bank system
Melinda Gates said that it is a matter of pleasure for us that we are able to provide facilities to the weakest and last person of the society. We intend to further improve our relations with UP in the times to come. In UP Melinda Gates also appreciated the digital banking system effectively implemented in UP.
Melinda Gates also said that there are immense possibilities of development in Uttar Pradesh. The work done for the betterment of infrastructure in the last years is unprecedented. CM Yogi Adityanath also appreciated the support being provided by BMGF. CM yogi also said Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has made commendable contribution in the field of health and nutrition.
She mentioned the efforts of women empowerment in Uttar Pradesh, Melinda Gates praised the policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Melinda Gates said that it is achieved due to the constant efforts of Chief Minister Yogi, self-confidence will increase in women and leadership potential will be developed in them. The Chief Minister Yogi also invited Melinda Gates and her colleagues to participate in the proposed Global Investors Summit from February 10 to 12, 2023.
