If Sardar Patel could unite India, credit goes to Adi Shankaracharya: Arif Mohammad Khan

Have you heard of the word ‘nation’? It has a Latin origin and comes from the word ‘nationem’ meaning ‘birth, origin, breed’. Now, the Latin word nationem is derived from another Latin word ‘nasci’ which means ‘to be born’.

The word ‘nation’ became a popular term in different parts of the non-English world, during the colonial days. And from here arrives the theory propagated by Marxist distorians that it was the ruthless British colonialists who taught us to be together in form of a nation or a country, and there existed no concept of a single nation before the British.

I can name many rulers who ruled the entire mainland India, or why the landmass was named India, which comes from Indus, called Sindhu in Sanskrit. Further, there exist many original names that are related to our Sanatan Sanskriti, like Bharatvarsh, Aryavarta, Jambudvipa. But today, I choose to focus on Adi Shankaracharya and how he threaded the entire nation together, which was again united by Sardar Patel post-independence.

Patel: The architect who prevented India from Balkanisation

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the tallest leaders of India’s freedom struggle can be credited for many things other than fighting for the independence of the nation. Sardar Patel saved India from becoming an Islamic state and prevented Hyderabad from becoming a Pakistani territory inside the Indian state. It prevented Churchill’s prediction of Balkanisation of India come true.

It’s well known how Sardar Patel threaded the entire nation together through the policy of ‘saam daam dand bhed’. He integrated more than 500 princely states into the Union of India, including the four toughest states, Jodhpur, Junagadh, Hyderabad and Kashmir.

What would have happened if we didn’t have Patel in those tough times? India would have been balkanised and the position of India-Pakistan would have been reversed. We could not have been the mightiest in Asia, without these strategic locations under our fold. But what did Patel unite? Some scattered territories? No! Sardar Patel brought back the entire nation together following Adi Shankaracharya’s ‘idea of India’ and Governor Khan has pointed out the same.

Khan recalls the contributions of Patel and Shankaracharya

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who happens to be an eyesore for the left liberal cabal has once again made a remark that would give them heartburn.

In a recent interview with PTI, Khan said that “if Sardar Patel could not unite India after 1947 and we could become the largest democracy and we could become one nation, the credit goes to the son of Kerala Shankaracharya, who more than 1,000 years back, made people of India aware about their cultural and spiritual unity.. I am not saying to you for the first time.”

For the unversed, the central government has been observing Rashtriya Ekta diwas or National Unity Day on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

Khan is well known for pointedly attacking the conservative elements of Muslim society. He is currently at loggerheads with the leftist Vijayan government over the issue of the appointment of VCs.

Adi Shankaracharya: The sage who united Bharat

Adi Shankaracharya was born at Kaladi in Kerala in 788 AD, is the saint who united India 1000 years ago. There are many saints and Mahapurushas who adorn the pantheon of Sanatan Dharm. However, no one could matter the stature of Jagatgurur Sri Adi Shankaracharya.

Shankaracharya derived his knowledge from ancient Hindu texts and submitted it before the Vedas. He is to be credited for integrating many different schools of pre-existing thoughts. He is the force behind the constitution of the four Amnaaya Peeths in four corners of the nation.

Shankaracharya did not just establish the Sanatan Dharma as the pre-eminent religion on the subcontinent. He also united a politically fragmented land through dharma, philosophy and pilgrimage. He is the sage who connected Kerala to Kashmir, giving recognition to the cultural unity of India. And Adi Shankaracharya’s work proves it as a fact that ‘India was a country even then’, thus demolishing the liberal fortresses of lies. With this, Shankaracharya, India’s greatest intellectual, fundamentally changed India and showed generations the way of life.
