A fortnight after the historic Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan, Bahubali fame Prabhas had announced a movie in collaboration with Om Raut and T-Series. It was speculated to be the most ambitious project to be ever made on the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram. Om Raut had already set the bar high with their Tanhaji: The unsung warrior and audiences had high hopes from Prabhas, expecting something even better than what he delivered in Bahubali. But hopes don’t always stand the ground and the teaser release of Adipurush has proven it.
Adipurush teaser fails to meet the expectations
On 2nd October, T-Series released the first official teaser of Adipurush, which is set to hit the theatres in January next year. The film showcases Prabhas as Bhagwan Ram, Kriti Sanon as Mata Sita, Pyar ka Punchnama star Sunny Singh as Bhagwan Lakshman. Media reports suggest that Om Raut has drawn inspiration from Maharishi Valmiki’s Ramayan. However, the base remains Ramayan, certain changes have been done, like Prabhas’ character has been named as Raghav, while Sanon’s character is Janaki, while Saif Ali Khan will play the villainous character of Lankesh. The audiences have gone all guns blazing at Om Raut, due to some alleged blunders he had done.
Saif plays Maulana Ravan
As soon as the teaser was released at a mega event in Ayodhya, fans started trolling the makers, and the first thing to be criticised was Saif Ali Khan. His earlier statements about humanising Ravan had already landed the makers in a lot of troubles. This time it was not the name of his kids or his anti-Sanatan remarks, rather the portrayal. Ravan, who was king of asuras, looks more of a new era villain with a long beard and Gen-Z haircut. Saif Ali Khan with smoky eye look looks typically like some Islamic invader, suggest some netizens.
Look at this picture from #Adipurush Movie, What do they want to prove by spreading this propaganda?
Look at the comparison vs real characters and created characters! pic.twitter.com/c2qWl56iqa

Looks more like the follically challenged Mahmood of Ghazni than the great sage Vishrava's narcissistic egotistical son who knew the four vedas by heart and penned the mesmerising Tandav Stotram and played the Rudra Veena so well Lord Shiva admitted he was better at it than him. pic.twitter.com/mSAFXtaiLj

Ravan was Brahmin, a scholar who composed “shiva tandav”.He had the knowledge of vedas & was an excellent astrologer. This pic of Saif Ali Khan is no where to Ravana. A South Indian Brahmin during those times would put kumkum on his forehead, this is a pic of “Mlecha” the Taimur. pic.twitter.com/ksy3t0cjKV

The POGO level VFX have turned Ravan-The king of Asuras into the head of any Dracula association.
I guess the makers of #Adipurush know that Ravan was king of Asuras and not the head of the world Dracula association. pic.twitter.com/QJnrCAGAk4

Om Raut gets the concept of Vanaras wrong
The second thing that raised the eyebrows of the audiences is the depiction of Bhagwan Ram’s Vanar Sena– the one who helped him in his mission. Who were vanras? Were they monkeys? Well, it would be demeaning to even think about that. Vanars were the brave forest dwelling humans who formed the mighty sena of Bhagwan Ram. In the teaser, Vanaras are portrayed as apes. In the teaser the Vanar Sena looks like a bunch of monstrous gorillas, something sort of seen in Hollywood movies.
#Adipurush: Prabhas is looking stunning as Shri Ram. Kriti Sanon isn’t looking too bad either.
But Ravan was not a Maulavi and Vanaras were not actual monkeys. In Valmiki Ramayan, they are addressed as वानर (forest dwelling humans), only Ravan and his ilk call then मरकट (monkey)

In Adipurush, they are showing
Vanaras as wild apes
Rakshas as wicked looking demonsThe majestic look of Ravana is missing, he is appearing more like a drug supplier.

2. The term Va'Nara' has lost all its meaning when Om recklessly brought chimps and gorillas into the picture. Vanaras in Ramayan have never been considered as monkeys but were considered as Humanoid apes. A different mutation altogether.
3. VFX 🤦Just a frustrated movie lover

Netizens are claiming that vanaras have turned monkeys due to western interpretation.
Mata Sita turned into a B-town heroine with B-Grade VFX
The depiction of Mata Sita has also gathered flak. Mata Sita’s character played by Kriti Sanon has been shown with like a typical B-town influence, way distant from the grace and dignity Mata Sita carried.
#Adipurush teaser uses borrowed VFX of typical video games. No character looks Indian. Hanuman et al wear leather like mediaeval Europeans. Sita dresses weirdly in purple giving artificial pose.
Not the way Ramayan exists in minds of Hindus since ages or in scriptures. Avoid. pic.twitter.com/f7HxfFbCy2

The VFX of the film has received the most criticism, as it appears very cartoonish and memes are being suggesting that the rights of Adipurush have been sold to Cartoon Network. The VFX is a crass, and clips are doing round how blatantly it has been copied from the Hollywood movies.
2 things I didn’t like about #Adipurush
1. VFX
2. Mughalchap Saif oli khan https://t.co/MaKCNxOg8F— Tweetsbyme (@Tweetsbyme2014) October 2, 2022
The shattered hope results in trolling
Ramayan is one of the most revered tales of civilisational history of Bharat. Unlike the left-liberal cabal of Bollywood, one must have expected the duo of Prabhas and Om Raut to do justice with the character and the story without any biases. However, it seems that the duo too has failed to present the fact, the possible reason why the audience have been irked after the teaser release.
Ramayan resides at the highest platform for any follower of Sanatan Dharma. Bhagwan Ram is a sovereign authority of Dharma, emulating ethics, morality and values, all in one. Ramayan needs to be 100% correct in the process of adaptation, otherwise it paves the way for the distortion of Sanatan Dharma and the civilisational history of Bharat.
