For a very long time, the leftist media portals ran their nefarious agendas and malafide content unabated without any trace of accountability. But as they say, there is a limit to everything. The vicious cycle of propaganda has been called off. After trying everything possible to cover their evil tracks, they are now resorting to blame games and scapegoating their ‘protectorate’ or ‘brother-in-arms’.

Legal troubles are mounting for the ‘fake news’ peddling site ‘The Wire’

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned the nation about the rising menace of fake news. He categorically stated that a small piece of fake news can create law and order problems in the country. Highlighting the gravity of the issue, he asked citizens to remain vigilant and verify facts before forwarding any news.

PM Modi said, “For the safety and rights of law-abiding citizens, stringent action against negative forces is our responsibility. A small piece of fake news can kick up a storm across the nation. We will have to educate people to think before forwarding anything and verify before believing it. ”

Evidently, India has witnessed the grave challenges posed by fake news. Fake news was peddled like wildfire during the anti-CAA stir, which unfortunately culminated in the gruesome Delhi riots. It is not that this fake news can’t be tracked and tackled.

Apparently, the leftist media portals have been accused of carrying out a malicious agenda without having any factual basis for their reportage. In their hatred towards the deep-rooted civilisational culture of India, certain ideologies and narratives, they have not shied away from fabricating, twisting or adulterating news to suit their wicked sense of journalism, secularism and democratic values. The leftist media portal, The Wire, has been leading this sinister group from the front, but it seems that its karma has come back to haunt it.

The Wire to be held criminally liable for its fabricated story

BJP IT-Cell In-charge, Amit Malviya, has taken The Wire to the cleaners. After publicly naming and shaming The Wire, he is holding the media portal legally accountable for carrying out the malicious and fabricated story about him. On October 29th, he filed a criminal complaint against the media portal for hatching a criminal conspiracy to malign his image. He also informed them about his decision through his social media accounts.

It is clear that The Wire and some unknown persons entered into a criminal conspiracy with intent to malign and tarnish my reputation, deliberately inserted my name into a story, and fabricated evidence to implicate me. I am left with no option other than to seek legal remedies. pic.twitter.com/7Evz688TVo

Taking cognizance of his complaint, the Delhi Police registered an FIR against the media portals and their top functionaries under various sections, including cheating, forgery, and criminal defamation.

'The Wire', its founder Siddharth Varadarajan, its founder editors Sidharth Bhatia & MK Venu & its deputy editor & executive news producer Jahnavi Sen have been named in the FIR that has been registered under Sections 420, 468, 469, 471, 500 r/w 120B and 34 IPC.

The matter relates to The Wire’s controversial and unverified reporting about the Meta story. TFI has written extensively about it and highlighted the evil business strategy of such media portals that have institutionalised fake news for their profits.

In the event of facing legal troubles, they run away by retracting these unfounded and unverified news only meant to personally attack individuals or ideology. However, these media portals forget that by running such a malicious agenda, they have eroded media credibility and made themselves synonymous with fake news peddling portals.

The Chronology of the Case, the Height of Hypocrisy of The Wire

The matter started when The Wire accused BJP leaders, including Amit Malviya, of having special privileges in the content moderation policy of Meta (parent company of Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram). The leftist fake news peddling portal claimed that Instagram removed contents from its platform on the diktats of BJP leaders. Even when it knew it had been caught red-handed peddling fake and fabricated news, it doubled down its efforts to cover the initial fake news with more fake and fabricated screenshots and claims.

Claiming it had rattled the ruling party and social media giant Meta, it shared fabricated screenshots claiming to be internally leaked documents, which were quickly exposed by officials of Meta and independent domain experts. Sharing all these screengrabs, the owner of the media portal, Siddharth Varadarajan, gloated about his portal’s credentials and the story they had carried.

At that time, he said that nobody should point fingers at Devesh Kumar, the so-called expert who allegedly supplied the media portal with the Meta story. He boastfully backed The Wire’s expert researcher, Devesh Kumar.

In an interview, he said, “This should be equally about me. I was hands-on involved in the story.” At that time, the entire leftist lobby gleefully lauded the media baron, Siddharth, for standing shoulder to shoulder with his colleagues.

Aha! Now, @svaradarajan filed a police complaint against Devesh Kumar.

Remember: On Oct 19, @svaradarajan told @platformer that this is not about Devesh. It is equally about him too. @newspaperwallah even told us how great @svaradarajan is.

Who still trusts SidV out there? pic.twitter.com/oVmgeNLfzf

— S. Sudhir Kumar (@ssudhirkumar) October 30, 2022

Well, this camaraderie didn’t age well. Ironically, Siddharth Vardharajan and The Wire, who were claiming to show a big brotherly attitude towards Devesh Kumar, have now filed an FIR against him in the said matter of fabricating news. They have thrown him under the bus and are trying to get an easy pass in the matter by scapegoating their RESEARCHER.

It seems that when The Wire started to realise the heat of the law, it led to a meltdown of its owner and top management. After stretching beyond their usual lying limits, they now simply want to pull their plug out of the Meta story and suffice with the sacrifice of their former colleague.
