A few weeks back, Twitter was filled with many posts and memes celebrating Dr S. Jaishankar’s fine diplomatic skills. His witty responses have exposed the hypocrisy of the US political elite. This is the reason he is now referred to as one of the best External Affairs Minister that India ever had. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had come out showering praises on Jaishankar. Now, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is the latest entrant to the Fan club of S Jaishankar.
Imran Khan lauds Jaishankar
Imran Khan, on several occasions, has heaped praises on India for its strong independent foreign policy. He had also admired the Indian government for purchasing Russian oil in large quantities despite the sanctions imposed by the US following the Russia-Ukraine war.
Recently, Khan, during his Lahore Rally on Saturday, played out a video clip of India’s Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar. In the clip, the EAM can be heard responding to a question about India’s Russian oil purchases funding the war.
Jaishankar was asking if India purchasing Russian oil is funding the war, why buying Russian gas is not funding the war? Is only Indian money and Russian oil coming to India funding the war and not Russia’s gas coming to Europe?
It is pertinent to note that Imran Khan wanted to make a point by proving how India is buying Russian oil despite the western pressure and on the other hand, Pakistan is struggling to secure its people’s interest.
When Sergey Lavrov showered praise on Jaishankar
During an interview with India Today, Sergey Lavrov called Jaishankar a real patriot, he stated, “Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is a seasoned diplomat when he said, we will be taking the decision for our country on the basis of what India believes it needs for its development for its security. Not too many countries can say something like this.”

Lavrov’s remarks reflect that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has once again managed to help India strengthen its position in the world with his skilful diplomacy.
S. Jaishankar is not an ordinary Foreign Minister
Over the recent past, Jaishankar has helped India assert its power on the global stage again and again. What makes him different than the others? Well, there exist various reasons.
He told the West that India cannot be hounded for buying discounted oil from Russia, because Europe itself remains a massive purchaser of Russian energy.
He also silenced the Biden administration by telling them that India won’t take any condescending behaviour about its internal issues, and if US Secretary of State Antony Blinken can talk about the human rights situation in India then India too can talk about its concerns about human rights in the US.

Seems like it wasn’t enough for the Biden administration, then Jaishankar also gave them a lesson of their life by telling the US that CAATSA is an internal issue of the United States and it is for them to sort it out. So, India won’t tolerate American bullying over Russian arms purchases and if the US has to continue its special relationship with India, then it will have to make the necessary adjustments.
Jaishankar has managed to take not only Russia but all the pro-India nations in confidence. Moreover, the countries like Pakistan are also forced to sing songs of his praises which makes it quite evident that Jaishankar has mastered the art of conveying his message without sounding needlessly offensive or circumlocutory.
