In a match against Australia in Perth in 2004, Sreejesh was selected for the junior national squad. At the South Asian Games in Colombo in 2006, he made his senior national team debut. He received the “Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament” title when India won the Junior Asia Cup in 2008.
After stopping two penalty shots in the Asian Champions Trophy Final in Ordos City, China, against Pakistan—a performance that won the game—he has been a regular member of the Indian side since 2011, despite frequently losing his spot to experienced goalkeepers Adrian D’Souza and Bharat Chettri.

Club Career
Sreejesh was purchased by the Mumbai franchise for $38,000 at the Hockey India League’s first auction. He participated in two seasons of their Mumbai Magicians team.
He was purchased by Uttar Pradesh Wizards in 2014 for US$69,000, and he has been playing for them since the 2015 season. After Rani Rampal, PR Sreejesh became the second Indian to be named “World Athlete of the Year.”

Raveendran Sreejesh was born on May 8, 1988, to farmers P. V. Raveendran and Usha in the village of Kizhakkambalam in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. He finished his elementary school at Kizhakkambalam’s St. Antony’s Lower Primary School and continued his studies there until the sixth grade at St. Joseph’s High School.
He started out as a sprinter when he was younger and later switched to long jump and volleyball. In age 12, he enrolled at Thiruvananthapuram’s GV Raja Sports School. At this point, his coach advised him to learn goalkeeping. After being chosen by hockey coach Jayakumar at the school, he played in the school before competing in the Nehru Cup, at which point he turned professional.
Aneeshya, a former long jumper, and an Ayurvedic physician was Sreejesh’s longstanding girlfriend before they got married. Anusree, their daughter, was born in 2014. Sreeansh, his son, was born in 2017.
He presently works for the Department of General and Higher Education of the Keralan government as the Chief Sports Organiser. Sreejesh belongs to District 3201 of the Rotary Club of Kizhakkambalam.
