Ranbir Kapoor, undoubtedly, is the finest product of nepotism. He is talented. His acting skills are commendable and is one of the best actors in the present generation that India has witnessed. The actor, however, is making a comeback after a four year gap. He will soon hit the theatres with two back-to-back releases – Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ and Karan Malhotra’s ‘Shamshera’. However, these movies will not only decide the fate of the ‘Rockstar’ actor Ranbir Kapoor but Bollywood too.
The upcoming releases will predict Ranbir’s further career
Ranbir Kapoor has proven his talent in films such as Rockstar, Barfi, Tamasha, Wake Up Sid, and Sanju. His last release was in 2018, which was declared a superhit, and Ranbir was praised by cinemagoers for his acting skills.
It is his talent that has made the audience wait eagerly for Brahmastra and Shamshera. The trailers of these films were released a few weeks back and have become immensely popular amongst the moviegoers. The larger-than-life portrayal of characters, VFX, fresh storyline and star cast are believed to work wonders for both the films.

The films are believed to leave a huge impact on Ranbir’s career. It has been four years since he was last seen in films and the audience seems to have forgotten him in terms of his acting career. It was only during his wedding and due to the news of Alia’s pregnancy that the actor was being discussed on the media portals. In order to revive his career, or I would say, maintain the career graph, the success of Shamshera and Brahmastra is a desperate need.
Why they are crucial for both Bollywood and Ranbir?
Given the failure of the films like Samrat Prithviraj, Jug Jug Jeeyo, and Gangubai Kathiawadi, it is being speculated that Bollywood is on the verge of collapse. The downfall, however, had begun with hardly two Hindi films performing decently at the box office. One of the prominent reasons behind the downfall of Bollywood is the filmmaker’s idea to compromise the content to appeal to the audience with propaganda, Hinduphobia, lavish sets, costumes, and exotic locations.
Witnessing such scenarios, the actor’s comeback appears as more of a challenge. It is hard to predict whether he will be welcomed by the audience or the films will fall flat on their face.

It is not only Ranbir Kapoor’s career but the Bollywood too is hanging by a thread. The audience is evolving. They are more awakened and sensitive toward what they are watching and whether the films are worth their money and time. They immediately reject the propaganda-ridden films and praise those with authentic content that is entertaining or has a message behind it.
Unfortunately, both the upcoming films appear to be failing when it comes to content that is propaganda free. ‘Brahmastra’ is already stirring controversy for hurting religious sentiments. The film is based on Hindu mythology and Bhagwan Shiva. There is a scene in the trailer that displays Ranbir entering a temple wearing footwear. However, Ayan Mukherji, the director of the film, later clarified that it was a durga puja pandal and not a temple.
On the other hand, ‘Shamshera’ is accused of offending Hindu sentiments with people expressing their resentment over the portrayal of Hindus as villains. These debates may sound irrelevant but will have a negative impact on the film’s performance.
Bollywood, which is witnessing a hard time giving superhit films, cannot afford these movies to fail at the box office. All of it is dependent on Ranbir Kapoor and his performance in the upcoming Bollywood films. While it is yet to be seen how the movies perform and whether will be able to shatter box-office records, let’s hope that Ranbir’s career graph keeps growing and Bollywood doesn’t cease to exist.
