She delved into modeling after finishing her education and appeared in more than 150 local television commercials. She performed cameo parts as a model in Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru (2009) and as K. S. Ravikumar’s assistant director in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa during her modeling career (2010).
Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa was originally cast as the second lead actress, but Samantha Ruth Prabhu eventually played the part.
Filmmaker Bala hired her for the part after witnessing her audition because he thought she “fits into the role.” Iyer played an innocent police policeman opposite Vishal in the comedy-drama movie, and the critics praised her for the part.
Her subsequent film, Paagan (2013), featured her opposite Srikanth. “Janani Iyer looks gorgeous and it is a relief to watch a Tamil girl speaking in her own voice,” a Sify critic remarked.
Malayalam

Additionally, she appeared in the films Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal (2014) and Ithu Thaanda Police alongside actor Asif Ali (2016).

As Janani Iyer, Janani was born in Kathivakkam in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She attended DAV Gopalapuram for her formal education and earned a B.E. in computer science and engineering from Saveetha Engineering College in Chennai.
She was accepted to Wollongong University in Australia after completing her undergraduate studies. She abandoned her study plans and joined the cast of Avan Ivan. She eliminated the Iyer from her name in 2014.
In 2017 Janani made a comeback in Tamil cinema by appearing in the thriller Adhe Kangal and the spooky comedy Balloon. The long-delayed Vidhi Madhi Ultaa (2018) had a theatrical premiere the following year, although it received little attention at the box office.
She made an appearance on the second season of Kamal Haasan’s Tamil reality series Bigg Boss Tamil 2, which was broadcast on Star Vijay in 2018.
