When you choose incompetent people at the top, you breed incompetency. It can easily be derived from the simple demand and supply equation of economics. But, the World Health Organisation (WHO), handling the responsibility of curing the world does not grasp it. Otherwise, they would not be electing Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to head the organisation for a second time.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the helm of WHO again
Former Nigerian politician will be heading the specially designated health body of the United Nations for five more years. On May 24, the World Health Assembly re-elected him as Director General of the controversial health organisation. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus got support from 155 out of 160 countries participating in the Assembly.
After his election, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “I am really, really overwhelmed by the support. This recognition is not only for me. I really believe this is recognition for the whole WHO family. I am really proud to be WHO chief”
WHO covered up for China
The re-election of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus comes as a surprise for most of the people aware of the notorious approach taken by WHO during the pandemic. WHO has been infamous for its shadiness throughout the whole pandemic. Right from the beginning, it was focused more towards absolving China of any responsibility for spreading the virus than controlling it.
It all started with the World Health Organisation’s initial denial of the possibility of human to human transmission of the Wuhan virus despite the desperate claims of Chinese whistleblowers like Dr Wenliang and Taiwan. But the WHO ignored the warning perhaps because China claims Taiwan to be a part of its territory while in reality, the Chinese Communist Party rules only the Mainland China. Paying heed to Taiwan’s warnings would have meant that WHO recognising the global status of Taiwan something which Xi Jinping wouldn’t have liked. Hence, the desperate warnings of Taiwan and Dr Wenliang were paid no heed by the WHO.

Changed rules to benefit China
Later, the virus spread to the whole world. Even after that, Tedros’ China worship did not end. When China was recording thousands of new cases of the Wuhan virus every day, the WHO castigated countries like the USA and India for deciding to restrict travel to and fro from China. Shockingly, in March 2020, WHO came out with a 40-page report on how well the Chinese government has tackled the Wuhan virus.
Throughout the pandemic Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus led WHO kept denying that Covid originated from China. WHO even changed the custom of naming viruses in line with their places of origin to avoid putting Wuhan (and by extension China) in bad light.
Big failure in handling Corona pandemic
When it comes to handling Corona, WHO can be termed as failure to say the least. It failed to ignite a cooperative framework between countries of the world. Big daddies of the world were banning the export of their surplus medicines left, right and centre and WHO was a mute spectator. The organisation originally established to help the third world but it became an unequivocal voice for powerful lobbies thwarting the world’s recovery from virus. If not for India’s timely intervention, the world would have become a death valley under WHO’s watch.
Even when the possible vaccines for Corona emerged, WHO failed to check their efficacy. In spite of credible data available in support of the argument that big pharma had developed less potent vaccines, WHO did not disclose it to the whole world. Later, some immunologist and evolutionary biologists also came out stating that the hastened vaccines were counterproductive as it exposed the human body to further variants.

Moreover, during Tedros’ tenure, WHO also changed into a political organisation. In January last year, it cut out Kashmir from India’s map. Similarly, to cater to politicians serving Islamic vote ban, it came with a categorical statement that Covid vaccines were ‘halal’ certified. The organisation is now hell bent on destroying the sovereignty of its member nations.

With the re-election of Tedros, WHO has set a precedent. It has said to the world that their health and well-being is not the primary concern, their primary concern is protecting their political masters. Under Tedros, WHO is a political body now. Well, what else can you expect when you do not appoint a qualified Doctor on a key post like this!
