“…In this ruthless industry you are all alone…Other girls my age are going on blind dates and joining salsa classes. I’m here playing a woman who lost her mind to a world where the only reality is unreality. Not that I’m complaining. I think I’ve been very lucky. I’ve seen life from the highest mountain. I’ve been on my own since the age of 16, though my parents were always there to support me. I took off to chase my dreams and here I am.”
These are the words of Kangana Ranaut. She first said that she was all alone in Bollywood in 2006, so that’s quite a long time since. However, her stand on the Mumbai-centred film industry never really changed. Kangana Ranaut has perhaps been one of the most vociferous critics of Bollywood and its stinking nepotism. Lately, though, the actor seems to be making a stringent effort to be embraced by the industry that she once claimed was unwelcoming to outsiders. Kangana Ranaut’s stand against Bollywood seems to be softening; and her beliefs against the film industry seem to be diluting.
Kangana Goes All-Out to Praise Salman Khan
Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, Dhaakad is set to hit the big screens across India today. Needless to say, like any other actor, Kangana Ranaut has been in a desperate search for avenues to promote her film. So, all it took for Salman Khan to win her favour was the extension of an invitation to an “Eid party” hosted by his sister recently.
Kangana Ranaut recently attended the Eid party hosted by Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan and her husband Aayush Sharma. While promoting Dhaakad, the actress said that she attended the bash since Salman Khan invited her and that she is ‘good friends’ with him.
She said, “It’s not that I don’t attend Bollywood parties, I go where I want. Salman is a very good friend of mine, usne party pe bulaya, toh main chali gayi (he called me for his party, so I went). As simple as that.”
The cherry on the topping only came later, when out of the magnanimity of his heart, ‘superstar’ Salman Khan decided to promote Kangana Ranaut’s latest film. Salman Khan had recently praised Kangana’s trailer of Dhaakad. Sharing the trailer on his social media, he wrote, “Wishing team #Dhaakad the very best! @kanganaranaut @rampal72 @smaklai.”
Kangana Ranaut could no longer contain her happiness, as she said, “Thank you my Dabangg hero heart of gold…I will never say again that I am alone in this industry…thank you from entire Dhaakad team.”
Kangana’s Journey
From being the mascot of victimhood, Kangana Ranaut seems to have finally made it big in life. Getting invited to parties by Salman Khan and getting her film promoted by the superstar while all these years claiming to be all alone in the industry is definitely big news for Ranaut. She has most probably made her way into the elite circle of Bollywood, despite running a frenzied campaign against it.
If this was ever a ploy to co-opt Kangana Ranaut into silence, it has most likely worked. From claiming to be the most helpless and lonely person around, Kangana Ranaut has finally managed to be welcomed in the top echelons of Bollywood.
Kangana Ranaut is well on the path of saying goodbye to the values that she until recently stood for. The right-wing in India dutifully shared her posts, wrote articles in support of her and magnified her voice. However, her latest actions show that she has begun betraying the cause she once claimed to champion. From giving anti-Hindu bigot Munawar Faruqui a lifeline in terms of his career, to now, heaping praises on Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut is proving to be a repetitive disappointment.

Unfortunately, Kangana Ranaut is also proving to be yet another hypocrite who could not stand by the principles she once claimed to champion. Perhaps, it was a show all along, in which case, the people who picked up her statements and made headlines out of them would turn out to be the bigger fools.
