Thulasi Nair Biography and Career
Thulasi Nair is a Tamil actress who has acted in two films. She made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s play Kadal in 2013. Thulasi is the niece of actress Ambika and the daughter of former actress Radha and hotelier Rajashekharan Nair. Karthika Nair, another South Indian actress, is her younger sister. She was born on 24 October 1997 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Thulasi Nair is known for her films- Kadal (2013) and Yaan (2014). After these films, she has not done any other films. So, she is not popular with the new generations and she has a very small fan following.
Career and controversies
At age 14, Thulasi was originally considered for a role in filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Kadal after being recommended by actress Suhasini to audition for the lead role in November 2011. She was first rejected with the director remarking she was “too young for the character” before the crew chose to sign her following Samantha’s exit from the film.
Thulasi shed twelve pounds for the film and she went through a series of pre-production seminars held by actress Kalairani before the first schedule. Thulasi played Beatrice, a young nurse with a childlike attitude, and filmed sequences in coastal Tamil Nadu with an ensemble cast that included Arvind Swamy and Arjun.

Prior to her release, she was kept out of the media due to a condition in her contract prohibiting her from interacting with the press. Following the release of the film’s first theatrical trailer, a kissing scene including her caused controversy because she was a minor. The film received mixed reviews upon its release in February 2013, and it went on to be a box office flop.
Thulasi portrayed Srila, the daughter of a retired defence officer who lives in Chennai, in the film Yaan. The film, which stars Jiiva and was shot mainly in Morocco, was released in October 2014 to mixed reviews and was a box office disappointment.
Her performance garnered generally poor reviews, with Behindwoods.com stating that “she has a better outing this time, and has some range of expressions in her bag.”
Rediff.com, on the other hand, said she is “barely recognisable” and that “there is barely any chemistry between the lead couple,” and called the movie an “awful bore.” She hasn’t been in another picture after then.
