Career
Kimi Katkar made her acting debut as a supporting actor in the 1985 film Patthar Dil. Later the same year, she starred in the film Adventures of Tarzan, opposite Hemant Birje, in which she played the major role. She continued to work in the late 1980s, with films such as Mera Lahoo, Dariya Dil, Sone Pe Suhaaga, Gair Kanooni, Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii, and Khoon Ka Karz among her credits.
She portrayed the lead role opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the popular 1991 film Hum. She was cast as Jumma in the film. Sudesh Bhonsle and Kavita Krishnamurthy sang the popular song “Jumma Chumma De” from this movie, which was picturized on her. She began to limit herself to a small number of films after that.
Humlaa was her most recent film (1992). She also turned down film offers for Yash Chopra’s Parampara at the same time. Later, Jackie took over for Amitabh Bachchan, and Ramya Krishna was cast in the role that was first offered to Kimi. Katkar left the Hindi cinema industry in 1992 after marrying photographer and commercial filmmaker Shantanu Sheorey. She has made her home in Melbourne, Australia.
