Sayaji Shinde Biography and Career
Sayaji Shinde began his acting career in Marathi and has since expanded his career to include Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Sayaji began performing in the late 1970s, first in Marathi one-act plays and then in Bollywood films. However, it was for his performance in the play Hijada in 1987 that he was recognised. This ushered him into the Marathi film industry, and he has since acted in films including Aai (1995), Goshta Choti Dongraevadhi (2009), Sat Na Gat (2013), and Babanchi Shala (2016).
Apart from being an actor, he produced a few Marathi films. Sayaji aided Nagesh Bhonsle in the production of Goshta Choti Dongraevadhi, a Marathi film. He also produced Dambis, a film directed by Makarand Anaspure (2011).
Career
His career began with a solid performance in Shool, but it was the Tamil film Bharathi, directed by Gnana Rajasekaran, that catapulted him to stardom. Despite not understanding Tamil, he played Tamil Nadu’s finest ever poet and writer, Subramanya Bharathi, and was recognised for his efforts with a state award.
Fame
Allu Aravind and Ashwini Dutt suggested that Shinde portray the villain in Tagore while he was playing in Calcutta Mail. He has remained quite successful in the Telugu cinema industry since then.

Sayaji began his acting career in 1978 with one-act plays in Marathi. Aboli, his debut Marathi film, was released in 1995. He appeared in many Marathi plays, with his role as Sakharam Binder being particularly well received.
Zulva (1987), One Room Kitchen (1989), and Amchya ya gharat (1990) were all popular Marathi plays (1991). Following that, he appeared in a number of Marathi films, the most notable of which was his performance as an Agricultural Minister in Goshta Chhoti Dongara Evadhi.

Sayaji got off to a good start with Shool, but it was a Tamil film called Barathi that launched his career. Sayaji garnered a lot of praise for his performance in the film.
Despite not speaking Tamil, Sayaji successfully played Tamil Nadu poet and writer Subramanya Bharathi in the film directed by Gnana Rajasekaran, for which he received the Tamil Nadu State Award. Later in his career, he appeared in Tamil blockbusters such as Azhagi and Dhool.
