When every political tool to win elections became redundant, Congress has now started to rant on the death of democracy. In her recent piece of opinion in The Indian Express, Sonia Gandhi has once again questioned Nationalism. Her cry-baby behavior after constant loss in elections is reflected in the opinion piece. Rather than cursing the awakened nationalism of Indians, she should focus on her sinking ship and the alleged young captain of the ship.
Bharat is an institution of the world’s pluralism lessons
The matriarch of the grand old party has termed the rise of nationalism in India as bogus nationalism and is spewing rhetoric to save the plural Indian society. She should be reminded of the national freedom struggle and how every identity of nationalism was used to fight the British.
Nationalism is a direct threat to the dividing forces of any country. When a sense of belongingness started to emerge, when people think about the security & benefit of their nation before anything else, a sense of pride and emotions is reflected towards their civilization, it turns into a nationalism.
Indian nationalism is deeply rooted in the idea of universalism and cosmopolitism. Actually, the existence of Bharat is the existence of a multicultural & multilingual heterogeneous society. Nobody can question the universal principle of the existence of Indian society.
The heterogeneity is inbuild here in the culture of the people. In a single dynasty of Maurya, four religions simultaneously existed. Chandragupta Maurya used to follow Jainism, Bindusar Ajivika sect and Ashoka promoted Buddhism. Above all, the guru of the founder of the Mauryan dynasty Chankaya was Brahaman. After coming from this civilizational state of mind, if anybody tries to teach the western idea of pluralism then it looks like they have never known India and its people.

Congress’s fear of nationalism
The recent social awakening of nationalism has given a tough challenge to their political calculations. In the name of social development, they have constantly divided the Hindu society in the name of castes. To further their political coalition, they have created a bank of the vote, where Hindus vote on caste divided lines and one religious community stay united to vote for them.
This pattern of voting serves two purposes, one continuously keeps them in power and the other never lets the Hindu society unite which directly results in their threat to existence.
Their theory to stay in power has been dismantled by the BJP. They have united the Hindus and have generated a sense of national pride in Indians. Now India is much stronger and self-reliant in every path of growth. Now India is standing on their own and speaking the voice of national interest rather than “a party or a community” interest. The unity of 130 crores Indian has given the grand old party a reality check of nationalism.

Save your sinking boat
Rather than questioning the acumen of Indian voters, Sonia Gandhi should save her sinking boat. Now people can not be fooled by the rant of religious hatred, pluralism, nationalism or the death of democracy. Indians understand congress’s double agenda of principle and policy. You have now been exposed. Your social engineering vote bank stands naked in front of India.
you had hijacked the growth of the nations, you divided Hindus, you created Pakistan, you were the party who let the civilization of India dies in the hand of left and Islamist bigots. Never expect Indians will ever trust your fake cry of saving democracy.
Gandhi Ji always believed, Be the change you wish to see in the world. Try to be the change. First of all, bring democracy to your own party. From 1998 to 2017 and further to 2019 now you are the president of Congress. Is this how democracy works? Where a single-family hold hostage every power of a party in a democratic country and lecture Bharat about democratic principles and further question their intelligence.

Congress’s nobody should work on their developmental agenda in the states left in their ruling. Otherwise, if they do not bring any substantive change in their governance pattern, people are ready to root them out from the government. The Indian society in its character is plural, multiculturalism runs in the veins and blood of Bharat.
