UPSC Journey of Shubham Kumar
Clearing UPSC is one of the toughest exams in the country, the dream of almost every youth. However, only a few students get success in this. Shubham Kumar of Bihar became the topper in UPSC 2020. He got this success in the third attempt. Shubham had said in an interview that I have seen many ups and downs in my life. Sometimes my courage was broken. But this has been possible only with the help of parents and brother. I used to study only for 7-8 hours.
Last time he got selected in Indian Defense Account Service. But he wanted to become an IAS. That’s why Shubham Kumar gave the UPSC exam twice. Shubham was unsuccessful the first time, scoring 290 in the second attempt and the number one rank in the third attempt. Shubham’s house is in Kumhari village of Katihar’s Kadwa block.
Shubham had said that in the year 2018, he started preparing for UPSC. During this, a lot of ups and downs were also seen. However, he kept the focus and tried as much as he could. There was a very difficult phase in Corona, but the motivation was to prepare. He got a lot of support from home. Due to which I got this success. Shubham’s father Devanand Singh said that he was very talented from the beginning. Shubham’s father said that seeing his dedication towards studies, he made every effort that there should be no difficulties in his studies.
Education
When Shubham cleared the exam, he was training in the Indian Defense Accounts Service. After Purnia, Shubham, who studied in Katihar and then Patna, did 12th from Bokaro. Then graduated in Civil Engineering from Bombay IIT. He said that when he was in class 6th, an incident happened during his studies, after which he decided to study from Patna.
Actually, it happened that when he was in 6th class in Katihar, one of his answers was called wrong by his teacher. According to Shubham, he found his answer to be correct, but was deeply hurt by the teacher calling it wrong. Then he decided to change schools. Not only this, he turned to Patna and then did not look back.

A total of 761 candidates have passed this exam in the year 2020. Out of which 545 are males and 216 are females. Shubham Kumar has obtained a total of 1054 (878+176). While Jagriti Awasthi, who came second, has secured a total of 1052 (859+193). Ankita Jain, who came third, has scored a total of 1051 (839+212).
