After objections from locals of some villages, the Himachal Government has banned entry of vehicles having portraits, flags of Bhindranwale, SGPC writes to CM, objecting to such ban.
Himachal Pradesh’s Praiseworthy Move
Himachal Pradesh had seen a small controversy picking up where some youths from Punjab entering the hill state, had used Pro-Khalistan and Bhindranwale related portraits and flags. India has come out of Pro-Khalistan separatist tendencies by paying a huge loss of young lives and many other losses.
To avoid confrontation with the locals and understanding their genuine objections, the state government banned all such separatist flags, photos to be used on vehicles entering the state The Himachal CM Thakur said, “We have high regard for the Nishan Sahib symbol and anyone is welcome to use it but flags with pictures of Bhindranwale will not be tolerated”

The SGPC’s strong objection
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has sent a letter to Himachal Pradesh CM JaiRam Thakur, to lodge his strong objection on this matter. He has termed Bhindranwale as “SANT” and cited that this could “hurt” the sentiments of the Sikh community. In his letter he has glorified Bhindranwale which is an open Pro-Khalistan stand, as Bhindranwale’s action led to a bloody chapter in Punjab’s history and no sane person would want to chart that separatist line again against our beloved nation.

To quote some part of his letter excluding the eulogy of Bhindranwale, as quoted by HT, “From media reports, we have come to know your statement that the flags carrying a photo or portrait of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale will not be allowed in HP. We register our strong objection to this statement made by you as a CM of the state, in democratic India, which is a multi-religious country. To maintain the peace and communal harmony in the country, as a CM of the state, it is your duty to ensure the protection of religious sentiments of all the communities.”
“The statement made by you (Jai Ram Thakur) has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs. We urge you to withdraw your highly objectionable statement and expect that no such controversy is created in future in HP”

Himachal Pradesh previously thwarted SFJ threat
The US based Khalistani group Sikh for Justice (SFJ)which is banned under UAPA, had earlier threatened many journalists of HP in a recorded message. The message claimed to be from SFJ general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, designated as militant under UAPA. In the recorded message they threatened that the HP CM wouldn’t be allowed to hoist the Indian national flag and once they “liberate” Punjab after “Referendum 2020” they will take back hill state Himachal Pradesh, once part of Punjab.
All such threats were thwarted by the state police and “Referendum 2020” had failed and whatever is left of such separatist organizations will be dealt with by India firmly, once we get their safe haven countries on board.
The actions of the Himachal Government should be praised for their decisive action. The failure of the separatist Khalistan movement should be seen by such ‘defunct’ yet terror sponsors and killers of innocent Punjabi’s and other civilians and should be a loud and clear message that India will never tolerate separatist and secessionist elements and few trying to revoke it again will be brought to justice very soon and punished proportionality.
