In the flurry to seek approval, the Samajwadi Party made a blunder by sharing a post on Twitter critical of itself.
Samajwadi Party shared a poster in which SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav can be seen waving at the crowd with the caption, “Akhilesh is coming on March, 10.” Akhilesh Yadav’s picture was accompanied with the tagline “Ride with the Tide.” The party may have assumed with the photo of their supremo waving at the crowd and this tagline that the poster advocated the win of Samajwadi Party.
From here the controversy erupted, as the poster was critical to the Samajwadi Party and elaborated the difficulties that Akhilesh Yadav is facing.

The comment below the tagline “Ride with the Tide” read, “Akhilesh Yadav has stitched together a formidable coalition with small, caste-based parties. His task of leading the Samajwadi Party back to power, however, remains challenging because of the fickle nature of his partners and dissatisfaction among Leaders of his own party.”
Samajwadi Party’s formidable alliance
The battle in Uttar Pradesh is bipolar, there is a direct tussle between incumbent chief minister Yogi Adityanath (BJP) and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav in order to give fight to the BJP, allied with smaller parties of the state, most of which are caste based.
Samajwadi Party is contesting the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Mahaan Dal, Janwadi Kranti Party, Suheldeo Rajbhar Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi).
Other than pleasing the public, there are two major challenges that Akhilesh Yadav is currently facing. First, the fickle nature of the leaders he has collaborated with and second widespread dissatisfaction among his own party leaders.
Akhilesh’s Negative is BJP’s Positive
Akhilesh Yadav has been working very hard to keep the folks together but the candidates have locked horns in many seats. The social engineering of Jat and Muslim in Western UP, may not be able to meet the destined fate as there was widespread anger among the Jat community for fielding Muslim candidates by SP-RLD alliance. The tussle in the Meerut belt even made headlines.
In many seats, apart from the Meerut belt, tussle was seen on many seats like Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, Marihan, Majhwa. On these seats, the tussle was between the member of the parties that have allied together. In some seats, even nominations were filed by the opposing candidates of the same alliance.
Other major problem in front of Akhilesh Yadav is the fickle nature of their allied partners. The SBSP supremo’ photo with Asaduddin Owaisi was doing the rounds on the internet.

BJP, on the other side has relied on the issue rather than leaders and parties. The campaigning has been majorly done by Modi-Yogi duo. The party is fighting the elections on the issues like law and order, kisan samman nidhi, Covid management etc.
