Dear WSJ, India didn’t avoid condemning Russia. India has already made its stance clear

India WSJ Russia Ukraine Resolution

India abstained from voting against Russia on UNSC’s Ukraine resolution, which was later vetoed by Russia. However, the American media outlet, Wall Street Journal, in an attempt to spread anti-India propaganda, called India’s move at UNSC as “avoiding”. After abstaining from voting, India had explained its stand. And once again, with this report, the WSJ scores high on rhetoric and low on facts.

UNSC Resolution that India abstained from

After, Russia invaded Ukraine a sitting was called for a resolution by the United Nations Security Council. The Resolution was aimed at condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and demanding an immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.

The resolution was passed with 11 votes in its favour. Eleven out of fifteen permanent and non-permanent members voted in favour of the US-Albania sponsored resolution. India, China, and UAE abstained from voting whereas Russia vetoed the resolution.

India’s reasons to abstain

India abstained from voting against Russia and India’s Permanent Representative to the UN T S Tirumurti explained the reasons behind the same. The Indian ambassador said, “India is deeply disturbed by the recent turn of developments in Ukraine.” Adding that the Indian authorities are deeply concerned about the “welfare and security of the Indian community in Ukraine.”

India said it is “deeply disturbed” by the recent developments. The country urged for an immediate cessation of violence and hostilities as “no solution can be arrived at [the cost of] human lives.” The country had expressed regrets as the diplomacy route was given up by the nations and said that “dialogue is the only answer.”

In UN Security Council meeting on #Ukraine today, India abstained on the vote on draft resolution.

West’s response to India’s abstinence

With this move, India has given a jolt to the Western countries, who lobbied hard all week with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to shift India’s position, as the country consistently refused to criticize Russia. The West ‘Liberal’, media can’t keep calm after India’s move at the UNSC.

Liberal WSJ’s report on UNSC Resolution

India has been the torchbearer of the non-Alignment movement where it refused to side with any of the superpowers of the world. And the country is fearlessly moving ahead with the idea.

But the West countries and their media are not able to digest the growing Indian influence on the world stage. Hence, the West Liberal media tried to spread a fake narrative, that, “India avoids condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, despite US pressure.” In the report published by the WSJ, the country has been portrayed as an underdog on the ground of diplomacy and international relations.

The WSJ must be having the basic understanding, that there is a difference between ‘avoiding’ and ‘abstaining’ and hence should report accordingly.

Dear WSJ, India did not avoid voting against Russia but has rather abstained from voting, due to the aforementioned reasons. With the UNSC move, the country has retained the option of reaching out to relevant sides so that it can foster dialogue and diplomacy.

In the report, the WSJ has elaborated that India has maintained a tricky balance between decade long strategic partner Moscow and India’s role in the emerging coalition of democracies. Whereas the country has stood firm with its reasons showing the world the way.

Dear WSJ, India knows how to fight its own battles. Galwan clash and Indian strikes in POK are recent examples of that. India does not need a lecture from the West media about its diplomatic moves.

India is not answerable to the West. Just because the West and Russia are at loggerheads doesn’t mean that India should take sides. It is best that countries who have created these differences sort them out without the whole world getting involved. India too should not expect other countries to fight it’s battles with China or Pakistan.

Tell WSJ that leave India alone. Unlike India Israel is totally dependent on America still it has not condemned Russia and also don’t forget the Ukrainian President is a Jew.
