During most part of the 70-years existence of independent India, Cows and other bovine animals have been subject to public ostracization by intellectuals. Now, PM Modi has stepped in with his categorical and unequivocal support for them, causing intense heartburn to liberals.
PM Modi in Varanasi
Prime Minister Modi is on a visit to Varanasi. It’s his second visit within a span of two weeks. His first visit was marked by the inauguration of a corridor of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir. In the next leg of Kashi Sojourn, the honourable Prime Minister has dedicated various infrastructural development projects to the city as well as the country.
Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation of ‘Banas Dairy Sankul’, a milk-processing facility. The dairy will be spread over 30-acres and will be processing five lakh litres of milk per day. Cumulatively, Rs 475 crores will be spent to build this massive infrastructure. PM Modi emphasized the importance of cows to maintain stability in our ecology as well as economy.
Cow is our mother, and we revere them: PM Modi
Launching a direct attack on people who have made it a social stigma to talk about cows, PM Modi said, “In our society, some people have created such an atmosphere that talking about cow or ‘gobardhan’ appears like a virtual crime. The cow can be a sin for some people. For us, it is our mother and revered.”
Highlighting the economic importance of cows, PM Modi said, “Those making fun of cows and buffaloes forget that eight crores (80 million) people in the country earn their livelihood through pashudhan (livestock). It is due to these families’ hard work that India produces milk worth Rs 8.5 lakh crore,”

India produces about 22 per cent of the world’s milk
PM Modi informed the nation that during his regime, India’s milk production has shot up by more than 45 percent. India currently produces about 22 percent of total milk productions in the world. People of Kashi were happy to hear from Shri Modi that Uttar Pradesh’s contribution towards India’s cumulative milk production is the highest in the country.
Appreciating Varanasi’s integrating its cultural milieu with modernity, Shri Modi said, “Varanasi, or Kashi, is having a model of its own when it comes to development. How to get a modern form while preserving ancient identity is being demonstrated by Kashi,”
On his Varanasi visit, PM Modi inaugurated as well as laid the foundation of a total of 22 projects. These projects are worth more than 870 crores. One of these projects is the distribution of gharaunis or rural residential rights records to more than 20 lakh people.
PM Modi-A Prime Minister who publicly supports Cow protection
PM Modi’s public support for bovines came at an apt time in Indian history. Protecting cows has been specifically mentioned as a goal for the Indian government under article 48 of the Indian constitution. Since it is part of the Directive Principle of state policy (DPSP), which cannot be enforced by Courts, no Congress’ Prime Minister took it as a mission to protect cows.

Rarely has been a Prime Minister in the history of India who has openly proclaimed his/her support for these wonderful creatures of Bhagwan. In fact, Indira Gandhi had denied framing any union law specifically criminalising cow slaughter during her regime. The same holds true for her father Jawahar Lal Nehru as well.
Moreover, during PM Modi’s regime, cows have been subject to more and more ridicule by liberals. In 2015, liberals ran a massive cancel-culture in India owing to their allegation that people are being hyper-protective of cows. From then on, any attempt by Sanatanis to protect cows is branded as cow-vigilantism and mobocracy by liberal media.

With his call for protecting cows, PM Modi has indirectly set the nation for the revival of the Sanatan civilisation. Those who are engaged in the protection of cows should now stop worrying about liberals as Pradhan-Sevak of the country is with them.
