Damodar Rout is a Senior politician from Odisha, who won the MLA election seven times and was Minister in the Odisha government.
Damodar Rout – Clashes and Dismissal from BJD
He was one of the founding members of Biju Janata Dal and closely worked with the founder of Biju Janata Dal, Biju Patnaik. He has political disagreements with the current chief minister of Odisha Navin Patnaik and he has been dismissed from the party after a series of fights between the two leaders in 2018. Within the BJD, Damodar Rout had several clashes with high-level leaders, including his arch-rival from Jagatsingpur, Bishnu Das, a Dalit who was angered by Raut’s charitable speeches against his community.
The former Minister was of the view that he never tried to malign the character of the Chief Minister but was only against the corrupt officials. He claimed that he had also dismissed some corrupt officers.

Joining BJP
Then Damodar Rout joined Bharatiya Janata Party at the party’s office in New Delhi in the presence of then National Party President Amit Shah, Trade Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, incumbent BJP Odisha Arun Singh and Baijayant Panda on March 14, and nominated the BJP as the callers of the State Campaign Committee. The decision of joining the BJP was disliked by his son and said that it was a bad decision.
The Former Minister also alleged that his presence in the party and party meetings were seemingly not required. He is called an attention seeker by many political thinkers. However, in Politics the old people are not given the required attention and respect that they deserve.
Young politicians feel that old politicians are no longer relevant in politics and therefore neglected. Such incidents are not only happening in Odisha but the old politicians are being neglected in almost all other regional or national parties when the young ones take charge.
Resignation from BJP
Damodar Rout has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party, just seven months after joining the party. He alleged that BJP leadership neglected him in the party.
