Ever Since Taliban has imposed itself on Kabul, Pakistan has been working to strengthen its diplomatic back-channel in order to legitimize barbarians. The dream has been met with a severe blow from neighboring Central Asian countries, as they have refused to wine and dine with India’s minnow neighbor.
Pakistan hosting OIC to ‘deal’ with Afghan crisis:
Imran Khan‘s administration is hosting a special meeting of Organisation of Islamic countries (OIC) on the Afghan crisis. The meeting was supposed to witness influential ministers from a total of 57 countries, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.

It is pertinent to note that 3 of these 5 countries share their border with Afghanistan. Other than India, these countries (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan) are the ones facing threats of extremist Islamism on their borders. This is the exact reason why India decided to diplomatically engage with these countries in order to devise a strategy to counter negative developments in Afghanistan.
Delhi is hosting the 3rd edition of the India-Central Asia dialogue:
Delhi is hosting the 3rd edition of the India-Central Asia dialogue, a 3-day event organized from December 18 to December 20 (2021). The focus of dialogue will be trade, connectivity, and development cooperation. India’s external affairs minister, S Jaishankar will be hosting the dialogue, which is to be attended by foreign ministers of all aforementioned central Asian nations.

All 5 foreign ministers are expected to talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a joint courtesy call. Signifying the importance of a cooperative arrangement between India and Central Asia, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “The holding of annual meetings of the India-Central Asia Dialogue is symbolic of the interest on the part of all member countries for greater engagement between them in a spirit of friendship, trust and mutual understanding,”
5 members of OIC decided to prefer India:
While India-Central Asia dialogue could be counted as a separate event from OIC meeting, the timing provides a peculiar opportunity to measure geopolitical clout of both the events. All 5 nations invited by India were also invited by Pakistan for the OIC meeting. However, they choose India over Pakistan and other Islamic nations.
This marks a remarkable shift in the geopolitical equation. The ditching of OIC has come off as an existential crisis for Pakistan, which clamors for unity of every Muslim. This is mainly due to Pakistan’s incessant support for Taliban in Afghanistan. While Pakistan tried its best to garner internal support for Taliban, constant human rights abuse in Afghanistan does not provide any confidence to prospective supporters.

Moreover, Arab countries are also drifting away from Pakistan, as they are integrating their economy with the world. Similarly, the USA also seems to have lost hope in the terrorist nation. After so much humiliation, the abandonment by Central Asian nations should come as the last warning for Pakistan.
