Certain liberal media houses, followed by their anti- Hindu ideology, do not hesitate to distort their own region’s history. The recent entry in the list is ‘The Print’ whose recent article refers to Diwali as a Buddhist festival and not a Hindu festival. Well, what else can be expected from such a leftist media house whose propaganda is to set an anti-Hindu narrative among the people?
Diwali – a Buddhist festival, claims ‘the Print’
The Print in its article titled ‘Diwali isn’t what you thought it was—It’s actually Deep Daan Utsav, a Buddhist festival’ tried to make a ridiculous claim that Diwali is not a Hindu festival but a Buddhist festival.
The article shamelessly wrote, “While it is celebrated across India as ‘Diwali’ or ‘the festival of lights’, its history is a contested one, torn between myth and appropriation.” The media house, in an attempt to run the vicious propaganda to malign the pious history behind the festival, claimed that the pious day of Diwali marked the completion of 84,000 stupas by King Ashoka as per Neo Buddhists.
It did not stop here. It further went on to glorify its narrative and stated, “Deep Daan Utsav is the acknowledgement by Neo-Dalit Buddhists of King Ashoka’s effort to revive Buddhism in India.” The media stooped to a new low when it quoted Dr Vijay Kumar Trisharan’s statement that asserted, “Deep Daan Utsav, which is now popular as Diwali, was actually a festival of the Mulnivasi, who were Buddhists. He says Brahminical forces appropriated the festival, thereby diminishing the Buddhist ideology.”
Netizens slammed the ‘left’ media house
The netizens gave their piece of mind to teach the media house its lesson. A twitter handle named ‘The Skin Doctor’ sarcastically mocked ‘the Print’ and tweeted, “No. I think it’s actually the day Mughals arrived in India to increase its GDP. When Babur came with message of love & prosperity, locals burnt crackers, lit diyas and gifted sweets to each other to welcome him. The day is still celebrated as Diwali today. Source : Trust me bro.”

Another twitter handle named ‘Rebel’ also tweeted to mock the media portal and tweeted, “So the basis of this claim is a claim made by neo-Buddhists. We are supposed to just accept and start believing that Diwali is not what we thought of because of this recycling of claims. Sounds pretty legit. Next!”

Left liberals’ attempt to demean Hindu festival
For those that have been paying attention, it is no secret that the ‘Indian State’ and its judiciary have more or less announced a war on Hindu festivals – more so, on Diwali.
Firecrackers – which have historically been an essential part of Diwali celebrations, and which in contemporary times support a massive domestic industry in India are suddenly being declared taboo. Firecrackers are being banned. People are being told what firecrackers to buy and what not to. Hell, Indians are even being dictated the time slot on Diwali during which firecrackers can be burst.

In addition to that, the advertisement industry has also been victimizing the Hindu community to hurt its religious beliefs and it is using Diwali to portray its woke and secular attitude by running vicious campaigns.
However, Hindus are in no mood to tolerate any propaganda against its religious beliefs and Hindu culture. Thus, they have begun giving it back to slam those demeaning the culture and history of Hindus.
We need to shut down such fake papers as quint and print..
