The movie is a development on OMG
OMG2 is the sequel of the 2012 movie Oh My God by Akshay Kumar. The 2012 movie was a big hit in the cinemas owing to the unusual storyline from normal Bollywood movies. The movie revolved around a businessman Kanji Lal, played by Paresh Rawal who could not get his insured money from an insurance company due to technical reasons. The man fights for his rights in the court and in turn, the movie becomes a detailed breakdown of religious practices in the country. Akshay Kumar had played the role of Bhagwan Krishna in the movie, who takes a human form to guide Kanji on his journey through the verses of Bhagwad Gita.
OMG was criticized for being Hinduphobic
The movie was criticized for the alleged anti-Hindu bias shown in it. Paresh Rawal’s character Kanji Lal was particularly controversial as it had ridiculed Hindus’ traditions on multiple occasions. At one instance, he went on to compare the pure and pious Ganga Jal with the alcohol, the tamsik beverage. The movie was focused on irrelevant practices of every religion, but Mithun’s Chakraborty’s character of a Hindu baba was a particular focus for bashing throughout the movie.
Akshay Kumar caters to popular sentiments
Akshay Kumar has been famous for taking contrasting paths simply for his success in liberal Bollywood. Once, he had publicly renounced donations to Mandirs, but when he witnessed that people are donating in huge numbers towards the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, then he backtracked and made his contribution to the construction. Similarly, his movies like ‘Laxmii’ and ‘Good Newwz’ were shown mocking Hindus and Bhagwan Ram respectively. His 2007 blockbuster ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ had scenes mocking Bhagwan Hanuman.
Well the same @akshaykumar is coming up with second part of the movie where Hindus & their practices are mocked.
Now he needs our blessing to help him making fun of us.@GemsOfBollywood have come up with some good content on him which you shouldn't miss watching. https://t.co/ivWXhvvndw pic.twitter.com/6tfMKj4d4m— Chiru Bhat | ಚಿರು ಭಟ್ (@mechirubhat) October 23, 2021

Looking at the hinduphobic history of Bollywood and Akshay Kumar’s tilt towards popular sentiments around him, people are alarmed about OMG2 being another anti-Hindu movie. Netizens have shared their concerns about it on social media. Akshay Kumar and his team need to ensure that the move does not become a Hindu-basher in the garb of reforming the religion.
Why do we go to watch such terrible movies.. boycotting them would be the order of the day.
The extremists destroyed career of sunny del after gadar- but we still boost those who put us down.
hopefully we all wake up and kick out the nasty directors who push such narratives.
