- A poster of Aditya Thackeray with green background colour and “Salaam Worli” written on it in Urdu is going viral on social media.
- A report by Newslaundry claimed that the photo going viral on social media is of 2019, but that doesn’t change the fact about the poster with Urdu text and green as the background colour.
- Shiv Sena published an Urdu calendar for the Gregorian year of 2021 in January this year, which has near to all the details which a Muslim will look for.
- Under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, radical Muslims barged into the ancient temple of Machhindranath, perched atop the Malang Gad fort in Maharashtra and started chanting ‘Allah hu Akbar’ slogans.
- The Shiv Sena, under its alliance partners – NCP and Congress are working overtime to project itself as a secular party, standing in steadfast opposition to the BJP’s nationwide Hindutva push.
In the last one and a half years, Shiv Sena has taken a sharp “secular” turn and ditched its Hindutva ideology. The party led by Uddhav Thackeray and Aditya Thackeray could not change the ideological bent of Shiv Sena’s political partners despite being the largest party.

A report by Newslaundry claimed that the photo going viral on social media is of 2019, but that doesn’t change the fact about the poster with Urdu text and green as the background colour.
This is not the first time Shiv Sena got itself involved in ‘secular’ activities or hurt the Hindu sentiments in the last one and a half years.
Last year, at the Dussehra Mela, Uddhav Thackeray in his condescending tone towards the BJP and Hindus at large, said, “Those who cast aspersions on our government, themselves have their mouths filled with cow-dung and Gaumutra. They have been trying to sling cow-dung at us, in a desperate hope that it will stick but it did not because we are clean. It is them whose mouth and clothes reek of Gaumutra and cow-dung.”
Moreover, Shiv Sena published an Urdu calendar for the Gregorian year of 2021 in January this year, which has near to all the details which a Muslim will look for. It even had mentions of Islamic festivals, sun, and moonrise, the calendar also presents Shiv Sena patriarch in a new avatar – ‘Janab’ Balasaheb Thackeray. Current party supremo Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray too, have also got their names prefixed with ‘Janab’ on the new calendar.
The calendar was published by the Wadala branch of Shiv Sena’s youth wing Yuva Sena. It received tremendous traction on social media, as people took to sharing pictures of the same, shockingly referring to the absolute turnaround of the party from one which stood aggressively for the cause of Hindutva to one which begins uncharacteristically appeasing a section of Indians.
Under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, radical Muslims are so emboldened that a few months ago, a mob of frenzied radical Muslims barged into the ancient temple of Machhindranath, perched atop the Malang Gad fort in Maharashtra and started chanting ‘Allah hu Akbar’ slogans. The videos of the incident, which have since gone viral on social media platforms, clearly show the gang of 50-60 Muslims forcing their way through the evening aarti and trying to create a ruckus which eventually resulted in a scuffle between the two parties. The police, however, remained a silent and mute observer while the incident unfurled in front of them before stepping in at the eleventh hour showcasing priorities of the Uddhav Thackeray government.
The Shiv Sena, under its alliance partners – NCP and Congress are working overtime to project itself as a secular party, standing in steadfast opposition to the BJP’s nationwide Hindutva push. The father-son duo is repeatedly taking steps that will irk the Hindu community in order to appease the minority vote bank and this would definitely hurt the party’s prospects in the coming elections.
