Starving for morsels of diplomatic recognition, Pakistan and its handsome Prime Minister Imran Khan have exercised a new strategy to make believe the masses of Pakistan, that it is still is an important country on the world map. Imran’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is posting colourful posters of the former’s phone calls with various world leaders. Safe to say, the Pak PM and his government have become a meme template across the internet landscape. It’s not even the Indians that are busting their gut laughing and rubbing on the misery but the Pakistanis, who are astonished at the level of lack of self-awareness.
The Twitter handle of PTI shared a poster where Imran Khan was called by United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The poster had nothing about the call, or the discussion, or if it was an accidentally missed call. However, the party milked it and tweeted, “Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI received a telephone call from British Prime Minister @BorisJohnson🇬🇧 today.”

Similarly, after receiving a call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the party handle tweeted, “Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI received a telephone call from German Chancellor Ms Angela Merkel,”

The most information any of the posters provided was about the phone call with Netherland Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The tweet read, “Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI received a telephone call from Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte today. The latest situation in Afghanistan was discussed. The Dutch PM conveyed thanks for Pakistan’s support and facilitation for their evacuation endeavours.”

The netizens pointed out that Imran Khan was pulling out such antics to be taken seriously by the West. As reported by TFI, US President Joe Biden hasn’t spoken to Imran Khan, ever since the former stepped foot in the White House in January. The cold shoulder has left Imran seething and at the same time miserable. Khan said that since the US decided to have a “strategic partnership” with India, Washington was treating Pakistan differently.
“I think the American people have decided that their strategic partner is now India and that is why they are now treating Pakistan differently,” remarked Imran Khan whilst talking to a bunch of international journalists.
It appears that Imran Khan is trying to make Biden jealous by releasing his phone call log. However, Khan simply comes across as naïve, unwise and a poor teenager who has had a recent breakup and is now trying to get back with his ex by making him/her jealous. Even by Pakistan’s extraordinary low standards of diplomacy, this is a new low.
