As India gradually emerges out of the deadly second wave of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, the so-called farmers’ protests are back trying to intensify their fake protests which have turned into a hotbed of criminal activities including rape and murder. In an attempt to incite violence, various social media accounts supporting the farmers’ protests spread fake news about crorepati farmer Rakesh Tikait being arrested. While the Delhi Police was quick to bust the fake news, it must find the source as it is clear that the perpetrators of the protests will go to any extent to incite violence in order to keep the fake farmers’ protests going.
Perhaps deprived of attention and media eyeballs due to the second wave of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, a group of pro-farmers’ protests spread fakes news that their leader Rakesh Tikait has been arrest with the hope that it would incite violence and make the farmers’ protests the focal point in the country.
DCP East Delhi was quick to take action to bust the fake news propagating on social media. The DCP, while busting the news of Rakesh Tikait’s arrest, tweeted, “Fake news! News related to the arrest of Rakesh Tikait is incorrect. Pl stay away from such fake news/tweets. Action will be taken for spreading such false news/tweets #delhipolice #DP.”

Yesterday, the intelligence agencies alerted the Delhi police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) about a possible ‘sabotage attempt’ by Pakistan-based groups. “Pakistan-based ISI proxies may sabotage the proposed farmers protest on June 26 by instigating the deployed security forces,” said the CISF in its letter to the Delhi Police. Based on the alert issued by the intelligence agencies, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) decided to temporarily close three stations of the Yellow Line route – Vishwavidyalaya, Civil Lines and Vidhan Sabha.
The DMRC tweeted, “As advised by Delhi Police, in view of security reasons, three Metro stations of Yellow Line namely, Vishwavidyalaya, Civil Lines and Vidhan Sabha will remain closed for public from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm tomorrow i.e, 26.06.2021 (Saturday).”
To commemorate seven months of the protests several farmer groups are expected to join the protesting farmers at Delhi’s border points.
There are clear-cut indications that the organisers of the farmers’ protests are planning something too sinister to regain the movement in the already discredited protests. The security agencies must get to the bottom and find the source who started the fake news of Rakesh Tikait being arrested.
