After the West Bengal assembly election results were announced on May 2, a series of gory and blood-infested events allegedly began being orchestrated at the behest of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee where BJP workers and those who voted for the party were slaughtered, lynched, bombed and raped. A heart-breaking ground report by Organiser has now shed light on the enormity of the sheer evilness and ghoulishness that was reportedly inflicted upon the innocent people of Bengal that dared defy Mamata and her supremacist reign.
Refugee in homeland
The report starts with the story of one Pinky Baj (34), a resident of Jaygram village, North Parganas in Bengal and a supporter and polling agent of BJP. Pinky remembers the trauma, clear as a day that came her way after TMC roared back to power on the fateful evening of May 2.
Pinky alleged that around 7:30 pm on May 2, around 50 TMC goons led by Mujaffar Baidya, Mahabur Baidya, Akhar Bhagi, Aja Mullah, Labawali Gazi and others barged into her house. “They started abusing me in the filthiest language. They started beating us with bamboo sticks, iron rods, their bare hands, and destroyed each and everything in the house and looted items worth 3 lakhs,” she said.
“Jaisi tumhari Hindu devi maa Kaali n*ngi hai..waise hi tumko n*nga karenge (the way your Hindu devi Kaali is naked, we will make you naked as well),” she further added.
After the attack, Pinki, along with her husband and family was forced to flee the village and roam from pillar to post as a refugee in her home state. When her husband tried to talk sense into the attackers and called up Mujaffar, the vile TMC goon said, “Pahle apni patni ko mere haath mein de, phir gaon mein aane dega, Apni biwi ko mere ko de, tab tu gaon aa sakta hai”. (First send your wife to me so I can sexually exploit her then you will be allowed to enter the village).
Violated by TMC goons
Another BJP worker Aparna Das lamented about her ordeal where she had to hide her Assamese daughter-in-law from the goons, only to be violated by the minority TMC goons.
“They kicked open the door of my house and barged in. They started demanding my daughter-in-law. When they could not find her, they forced themselves on me. Usman then raped me. I kept pleading with him. Pleaded with him saying I am like your mother. Don’t do this to me. All my pleading fell on deaf ears as he continued forcing himself on me. That day I, a Hindu woman, lost my honour to a Muslim goon,” said Aparna Das.
She further added, “They did not stop at this. Gautam Das advised Usman to kill me lest I lodge a complaint against them. All the four together forced me to open my mouth and forced poison inside. I totally lost consciousness and I don’t even know how and when I was rescued. I plead with you all to ensure I get justice. I, a Hindu woman, got dishonoured by this Muslim TMC goon, and do not wish to remain a mere victim. Please come forward to ensure I get justice.”
Gang-raped in front of father
Another woman named Diya Guha, age 21, from Birbhum, alleges that on May 2, local TMC leader Mamul Sheikh, and 10 to 12 other Muslim TMC goons stormed into her house where she lives with her father, a BJP worker, and started beating up everyone.
They tore my clothes and when my father tried to save me, they beat him up brutally and said, “Nahi hum logon ko tu nahi chahiye..teri beti chahiye .. hum logon ko Hindu ladki chahiye.” (No… we do not want you but your daughter. We want the Hindu girl.)
The report by Organiser further added that the TMC goons took turns to rape the 21-year-old woman in front of her father, who was held at gunpoint. Seven men violated the girl one after the other, while her helpless father looked on.
Mobocracy and total breakdown of law and order
Whether it be the post-poll violence inflicted upon women associated with the BJP or the party’s supporters, or now, those being subjected to unspeakable cruelties due to a complete breakdown of law and order in the state – the TMC regime’s alleged ineptitude to prevent such crimes and perhaps, culpability in them has ensured that the lives of Bengal’s women are made a living hell.
As reported by TFI, in Jalpaiguri’s Dhupguri, a minor Dalit girl was allegedly forced to drink liquor and then stripped and videographed by a couple. The girl worked as a domestic help at the couple’s house in Khalaigram village. A complaint is said to have been lodged under the POCSO Act.
As reported by TFI, Mamata Banerjee, during the election trail, had insinuated that BJP supporters will be pleading with folded hands after she comes to power and the central forces move back. Mamata Banerjee had said, “I keep knowledge of every inch of the elections. After the election, the security personnel sent by the central government will go back, but if our government is formed then the BJP supporters will plead with folded hands for the central security forces to be stationed for a few more days so that they (BJP supporters) could be saved.”
While TMC reportedly engages in a mass purge of BJP workers, even the courts and their esteemed judges have started pulling their hands. Last week, Justice Indira Banerjee recused herself from hearing a petition filed by the families of two BJP activists killed in the post-poll violence in West Bengal seeking a CBI/SIT probe, without citing any reason.
The state of Bengal is in peril and as sad as the realisation is, it doesn’t appear that things will be getting better any sooner.
