Priyanka Gandhi Vadra seems to have mastered the art of trial and error. Only that this time around, the Gandhi princess tried to apply the theory to the death of Sitaram Yechury’s elder son, who passed away Thursday morning due to Covid-19. It took no less than three attempts for the dynast and wife of Robert Vadra to rectify her error, although the bulk of the damage was done by then. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a span of not even a few hours, mourned the death of former Congress President Sitaram Kesari, copied and pasted the content of the correct condolence message as is, and then finally, tweeted correctly.
At 10:34 Thursday morning, Priyanka tweeted her condolences to Sitaram Kesari and his family, supposedly for the demise of their son – which never happened. Sitaram Kesari is a former Congress President who has no love lost for the Gandhi family. The man served as Congress’ party president from 1996 to 1998, subsequent to which he was sacked to make way for Sonia Gandhi. Legend has it that Kesari was locked up in the bathroom at Congress headquarters in Akbar Road so he could not stop Sonia Gandhi from entering the office with her supporters to take over as party president.

In a subsequent tweet, Priyanka Vadra sought to diligently rectify her mistake – only that she ended up copying the script sent to her by her colleagues/employees verbatim. Two minutes after deleting the tweet about Sitaram Kesari’s son, Priyanka tweeted, “Please tweet: My deepest condolences to Shri Sitaram Yechury and his family. There are no words at a time like this, only prayers. May you have courage.” All looks well and good unless one notices the “please tweet” attached to the tweet prior to the actual condolence message, proving that the Gandhi star tweeted a message she received without even bothering to read it completely.

Then came the correct tweet. It took three attempts for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to come up with the correct tweet, in which there were no errors, and nobody’s son was being randomly mourned for.

Priyanka Gandhi has now become a subject of ridicule on Twitter for her gross indifference towards the death of Sitaram Yechury’s son. The death of someone is not an occasion when senior leaders like Priyanka are expected to make errors. Yet, the Congress party and the Gandhis never fail to surprise India.
