In a significant development in the Himalayan country of Nepal, India will be bankrolling 246 million Nepali rupees for the reconstruction of three cultural heritage projects in Nepal. The Modi government has identified a total of 28 heritage sites all over Nepal out of which six have been constructed and now three more projects are going to be redeveloped.
On the 3rd of March, the Indian government signed The Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) and Contract Agreements for restoration and reconstruction. The projects that have been identified for re-development are Jesta Varna Mahavihara in Lalitpur, Sulighyang Gumba, and Shermathang Gumba located in Sindhupalchowk district, according to a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs. The three cultural heritage sites are religiously and culturally important for the Hindus in Nepal and India.
This was not the first time the Modi government initiated such a noble scheme to restore the values and cultures of Hindus in Nepal. Ever since the Communists took control of Nepal, they have been trying their level best to uproot the cultural identity of Nepal by attacking the Hindu religion and its values.
China has been trying to assert a lot of influence in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Oli. The Nepalese communists have tried numerous tactics to erase the religious heritage of the people of Nepal. However, due to the relentless effort by India and the Nepalese Hindus, the communists are bound to fail in their agenda. Before the recent development, India signed contracts to conserve and modify Seto Machindranath Temple and Construction of Dharamashalaat Budhanikantha Temple to rejuvenate the Hindu value system.
PM Modi knew very well that restoring the temples will revive the Hindu civilisation in Nepal. The best way to fight the counter effect of Communism is to tighten the grip over cultural values.
The growing influence of China in Nepal is worrisome not only for the Hindus of the country, but also for the strategic and economic ties between both India and Nepal.
The Communist Party of China (CCP) had helped the communists in Nepal to gain a stronghold in the country’s politics and now they are trying to diminish India’s influence in the Himalayan region, and the collateral damage for the China hegemony will be the religious identity of Hindus and their freedom to practice their religion.
Earlier, TFI reported that despite Oli’s inclination towards the CCP, the people of Nepal still believe that India and Nepal share a common cultural heritage and showed strong solidarity with the Indian government against their government’s anti-India stand. Nepal was a proud Hindu nation, however, the communists have tried each and every possible tactic to destroy the culture. But now, the Modi government is all set to bring a cultural revolution in the country.
