How Sabina conspired to trigger the Sarai Kale Khan violence over a Hindu man’s wedding with a Muslim woman

The violence that erupted after a section of Muslim miscreants landed in the Harijan Basti of Southeast Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan on late Saturday, and destroyed everything and anything in their way is said to have been masterminded by none other than the friend of the Muslim girl who had married the Hindu boy of the locality. The Police in their preliminary investigation has found that a woman named ‘Sabina’ is said to have incited the mob to go on a rampage in the locality and even egged the bloodthirsty Muslim populace to kill the married duo if found.

According to a Jagran report, the Muslim family members have also pointed fingers towards Sabina, who is currently absconding. It is being said that after the marriage, it was Sabina who was the angriest and in her fit of anger, she hatched the entire conspiracy to burn down the homes of the Dalit community.

It is being alleged that despite the duo getting married at the Saket court and declaring their marriage at the police station, Sabina went ahead, conducted multiple meetings across the locality and mobilised the Muslim community to indulge in violence.

According to the Police, the woman’s family was against the couple’s relationship. “The spot was visited by senior officers and it was revealed that Sumit and Khushi, both adults, of the same locality got married against the will of the woman’s parents. The mob comprised woman’s relatives and acquaintances,” said DCP (South-East) R.P. Meena.

The victim’s father alleged that after threats were issued against them, he decided to stay at his relative’s house. Despite this, the Muslim mob unleashed the attack on his colony.

“My son married a Muslim girl. They [woman’s family] were against it. They abused us and said they will not allow us to stay here. We were called to the police station on Saturday. Khushi had even said she was happy with the marriage but after we returned from the police station, they created ruckus here. We are all scared,” said Sumit’s mother Rajni.

The reports further mention that Sabina has close relations with almost all Muslim families in Sarai Kale Khan. She is known to incite people in the name of religion. In the past, she had tried to give communal flair to what was just a petty squabble between two neighbours.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, going viral on social media platforms, the vengeful Muslim mob could be seen entering the locality and breaking pots, pelting stones, damaging vehicles and banging on the doors in an attempt to break them. Some Hindus have also stated that few of the rioters wanted to lit up the colony as well and were trying to take out petrol from the vehicles but after a few of the Hindus threw something at them, the Muslim mob gave up on its arson plans.

The Police has remarked that the SC-ST act will be pressed into the case and that the boy and girl will be given full police protection to save them from the Muslim mob that can still come for their lives.

The interfaith marriage and the subsequent violence by the ‘minority’ community have once again proven that Hindus and Dalits lives can easily be sacrificed at the altar of the country’s ‘secularism’. The deafening silence of the national media in covering the violence is shocking, but not surprising. Even the few media outlets that have covered the incident have resorted to calling the armada of Muslim miscreants a small Mob and the incident another small non-communal event.
