The latest target of anarchical protestors, and Khalistanis seems to be popular Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa, who is being hounded on social media, especially Twitter, for posting a picture donning an Indian Army soldier’s attire. Since the separatist inclination of the ongoing farmers’ protests has been made abundantly clear already, Guru Randhawa has now been subjected to slurs and name-calling for merely saying that he is a proud Indian who feels blessed to be born on this soil. The violent protestors are going on a social media rampage, and are targeting anyone even mildly supportive of the Modi government or proud of their country.
Although Guru Randhawa has supported the farmers’ protests, he has not been as vocal about them as other singers and stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Jass Manak, Ranjit Bawa, etc. Randhawa has time and again called for talks between the government and the protestors, and has suggested that resolution will come about only through dialogue. In a tweet posted one day after the January 26 violence on the streets of Delhi, Guru Randhawa said, “My most special character. Respect Indian Army. Soldiers are our heroes. Proud Indian and blessed to be born here.”

This was followed by many individuals quoting the said tweet of the singer and abusing him for daring to be proud of his country and its armed forces. The abusing of Randhawa only further proves our point that the farmers’ protests have nothing to do with the farm reforms, but are aimed at destabilising India.

In 2019, Guru Randhawa was attacked in Canada while exiting the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver after his performance. The singer was hit from behind on his head when he was exiting the theatre. The fake farmers’ protests, which are based on nothing but lies, are being turned into an existential subject by those involved in them. As such, anyone who does not subscribe to the theory of farmers’ lands being snatched by big corporate houses and farmers being left to starve as a consequence of such reforms is being called a traitor. As long as people mindlessly subscribe to the lies being peddled by the farmers’ unions – all seems to be well for them. The moment they put their brains to work, and begin seeing the futility of such protests, they are abused, slurred and even physically attacked. It is for this very reason that Guru Randhawa is being attacked, since he is a proud Indian, and is not as extremist in his support for the farmers as other Punjabi stars.
