Prashant Kishor, who has an incredible tendency to align with the winning political party before any election and then claim victory for himself and his consultancy firm I-PAC in totality, has now been exposed as a person who illegally takes over social media accounts of TMC leaders. This time around, however, much like was the case with the 2015 Bihar assembly polls, Prashant Kumar has got his calculations horrendously wrong. The TMC might have seemed in an advantageous position up until 2019, however, it has now become clear that the Ma, Mati, Manush party is a dilapidated fortress waiting to be breached.
Struck by an unending spate of defections, the Trinamool Congress’ electoral fortunes are hitting new lows with each passing day. The reaction of the party to those who are leaving it is only further obliterating Mamata Banerjee’s bid for a third term as chief minister. Now, former Union Railway Minister and founding member of the TMC – Dinesh Trivedi has made a rather explosive revelation. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Trivedi tacitly claimed that Prashant Kishor and his I-PAC are operating the social media accounts/handles of TMC leaders.
According to Trivedi, the accounts of TMC leaders are non-consensually used to abuse the Central government, Prime Minister and Home Minister. “For instance, my Twitter account – party takes all our details. I could have said no also, and I don’t know who uses my account. With my Twitter account, they abused the PM, they abused the governor. I asked why did you do that? I had to delete it many times too,” Trivedi was quoted as saying.
On being specifically asked whether Prashant Kishor’s team tweeted for Trivedi, he said, “I don’t know who tweets, but the fact is, they do take our account password details. In good faith I shared but many times I’d see abusive tweets. I had to put my foot down and asked them to delete or I would. The governor also realized that Dinesh can’t use such abusive language. One day they tweeted in Hindi, abusing the PM and used a bad word. I said that firstly, I don’t tweet in Hindi and this isn’t my language. My image would be tarnished. They want some kind of conflict with the Centre all the time, but I don’t believe in that.”

The revelations come in a series of accusations that Dinesh Trivedi has made against Prashant Kishor and his consultancy firm ever since he resigned from the party. Earlier, he had called I-PAC a corporate consultancy firm, to which political parties paid hundreds of crores for inexplicable reasons. The fact that Kishor and his team operate the social media accounts of TMC leaders shows how the constant rants and abuses directed towards the BJP and the Modi government are not independent opinions of the leaders themselves, but vitriolic statements made by Kishor and his firm on their behalf, without their consent. Not only is Prashant Kishor an overrated number cruncher, but also a person who hijacks social media handles of people he claims to work with.
