Prashant Bhushan, pass-time lawyer and full-time aider of anti-India elements took to Twitter on Friday, the first day of the Gregorian new year, to peddle an absolutely fake narrative on the supposed Mosque vandalism by Hindus in the BJP-ruled state of Madhya Pradesh. The “human rights” advocate sought to portray Pakistan in a better light when compared to India on the issue of religious freedom and tolerance. Of course, factual accuracy was of no concern to Prashant, who shared a mediocre image on Twitter reeking of his pro-Pakistan motivations.
In the image shared by Prashant Bhushan, India and Pakistan are compared on several indices, such as media reportage, police action, judicial intervention, etc. The comparisons drawn were between the attack on a Hindu temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, and several alleged vandalism on Mosques in Madhya Pradesh. On all counts, the flimsy graphic shared by Bhushan seeks to portray Pakistan in a better light, and as a country whose conscience was still alive and kicking when compared to the morally corrupt nation’s passport that he holds.

In the picture shared by Prashant Bhushan, he falsely claimed that the police has taken no action, whatsoever against the alleged vandals who supposedly desecrated several mosques in Madhya Pradesh over the past few days. The reality is that the Madhya Pradesh Police has invoked prohibitory orders and booked nearly 100 people already in two districts of the state on Wednesday itself. Further, unlike the blatant attack by a blood-hungry mob on the Hindu temple in Pakistan, the Madhya Pradesh police clearly stated that no damage was done to any shrines recently.
According to the Hindustan Times, the first incident was reported from Dorana village in Mandsaur district. Police said that some men climbed atop a local mosque and put a saffron flag on the structure.“There was no damage to the shrine. The police immediately swung into action and removed those who were atop the shrine,” said Mandsaur superintendent of police Siddharth Chaudhary.
Then, in rural Indore, in the backdrop of clashes, some miscreants climbed a Muslim shrine in Gautampura and attempted to damage a part of the structure. They were immediately removed by the police and an FIR under Section 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was also filed.
On the claim of National Security Act (NSA) being slapped by Prashant Bhushan against Muslims without cause, it is in fact the Muslim groups of Mandsaur who are submitting memorandums to the district administration and police, alleging community members and the Dorana shrine were targeted in a pre-planned manner, asking for the guilty to be booked under National Security Act (NSA).
Finally, Indian media is not silent and has abundantly reported on the small-time flare-ups in Madhya Pradesh. On the issue of the Supreme Court intervening in the ‘matter’, it must be remembered that the police are vigorously conducting investigations and cracking down on anti-social elements without any nudges by the judiciary. Thus, a Supreme Court intervention would serve no purpose. Unlike in Pakistan where spineless law enforcing agencies stood as mute spectators to the desecration of a Hindu temple, in India’s Madhya Pradesh, such desecrations were prevented in the first place.

Pakistan has a history of tormenting religious minorities, with the Islamist state itself playing an active role in ensuring their extinction. In contrast, India is nowhere close to Pakistan on the issue of religious tolerance. Illiterate, ignorant, and foolish specimens like Prashant Bhushan who wish to draw false equivalences between the two countries should simply be told to keep their mouths shut.
