In the last few weeks, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been actively fuelling the farmer’s protests in the national capital, to strengthen its position in Punjab for the 2022 assembly elections. The party provided financial assistance, WiFi hotspots and many other facilities to the protestors. In the latest, the party provided ‘legal assistance’ to a few farmers in filing ‘defamation cases’ against politicians and celebrities.
“Important: As promised, AAP helps following farmers send legal notice to those discrediting the farmers’ protest- Jeevan Jyot Kaur to Kangana Ranaut, Narinder Singh to Ramesh Bidhuri, Sukhwinder Sukhi to Manoj Tiwari, Gurinder Birring to Ravi Kishan, Chetan Singh to Raosaheb Danve,” tweeted the party.

The party claimed that they are farmers and need legal assistance in the filing of cases and that is the reason it came forward to help them. However, later it was reported that all those farmers are AAP members.
As per a report by The Indian Express, Narinder Singh Shergill, one of the farmers whom AAP helped to send a legal notice to Ramesh Bidhuri-BJP MP from Delhi- is an AAP member and has contested assembly elections from Mohali and the parliamentary polls from Ropar constituency.
Similarly, Jeevan Jyot Kaur, who sent a legal notice to Kangana Ranaut, is associated with the Mahila wing of AAP. Gurinder Singh Birring, who sent a legal notice to BJP MP Ravi Kishan, has been associated with AAP and was part of its war room for the 2017 Assembly Polls. Moreover, Sukhwinder Paul Sukhi, who has sent a legal notice to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, is also associated with AAP in Mansa district of Punjab.
Every time Aam Aadmi Party attempts something intellectually appealing, it ultimately comes out as stupid and the same happened in this case. The AAP members are too naive to attempt something that requires intellectual rigour, and therefore, they should stop these kinds of attempts which ultimately put the party in the square. At best, AAP could appeal to urban middle-class consumers through its ‘pyaz-tamatar’ politics because apart from that, it neither has an ideology or an agenda for national development.
On the issue of the farm laws, the Aam Aadmi Party’s rhetoric has been one of flip-flops and U-turns. From vouching to bring in the same reforms when they campaigned for the Punjab polls in 2017 to now Kejriwal tearing the farm laws, AAP has exposed itself for what it truly is.
The main point of contention for all opposition parties is the fact that it is under Prime Minister Narendra Modi that such reforms are being effectuated. Therefore, the desperate frustration of the AAP and Sanjay Singh was single-handedly exposed by Rubika Liyaquat on live television.
As the AAP leader took to preaching about the supposed demerits of the three “black laws”, the ABP News anchor while first allowing him a wholesome period time to put forward his opinion, soon began demolishing his lies.
Rubika Liyaquat did not need a variety of points to demolish Sanjay Singh live on television. The journalist, who was called an “agent of Adani” by the AAP leader, took to reminding the man that it was his master’s government in Delhi which was among the first to notify one of the farm laws. On November 23, the AAP government in Delhi notified the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020.
AAP is not alone in the kitty of opposition parties, making it a life mission to seek the repeal of the farm laws by whole-heartedly supporting the farmers’ protests. Almost all political parties, barring only perhaps the Communists, had promised in their manifestos the same farm reforms which the Modi government has shown the courage to bring in. And now such parties including the AAP, are opposing the laws to score political points.
