‘Your reports are not credible,’ CBI slams India Today’s report claiming it has ruled out murder angle in Sushant case

Sushant

As the CBI investigation into the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput picks up, Bollywood’s PR machinery in cahoots with the Lutyens journalists has been working on an overdrive to discredit Sushant Singh Rajput as they have left no stone unturned to label his death as a case of suicide. In another low for India Today, the media house which has been working relentlessly to help Rhea Chakraborty, came out with an ‘exclusive report’ claiming that the CBI has ruled that there’s no proof of murder in the case of Sushant. Turns out, the India Today report was nothing but a figment of the imagination.

Further lowering the standards of their already much-maligned journalism, India Today earlier this week, came out with an ‘exclusive report’ where the publication claimed that three CBI officers independently told them that they haven’t found any proof of homicide in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case yet.

The report claimed that “The CBI officials said they are focussing on the suicide angle and examining if a case can be made for abetment to suicide.”

It added, “According to the team conducting the probe, none of the forensic reports, statements of the key suspects or the reconstruction of the crime scene suggest that this is a case of homicide.”

Expectedly, the report went viral and was used by the cabal to browbeat those claiming that something was amiss in Sushant’s death. Yesterday, the CBI clarified that the media reports doing the round are “speculative and not based on facts”.

In a statement, the CBI said, “Certain media reports attributed to CBI investigation are speculative and not based on facts. It is reiterated that as a matter of policy, CBI does not share details of an ongoing investigation. CBI spokesperson or any team member has not shared any details of the investigation with media. The details being reported and attributed to CBI are not credible.”

The clarification reveals that India Today ran a story filled with white lies in a desperate bid to hoodwink the nation and save the who’s who of Bollywood.

The burning question is that why did India Today run a fake story claiming that three CBI officers exclusively talked to the publication? Perhaps one can find the answer in who benefits the most with Sushant’s death being ruled as a suicide.

This is not the first time when the media house has sided with Bollywood cabal, as their poster boy Rajdeep Sardesai indulged in yellow journalism by deciding to interview the main accused of the case, Rhea Chakraborty.  The interview was nothing but an image makeover exercise as the duo ganged up to prove that Sushant was suffering from “mental health issues” and used to have “depressive episodes”.

It is pertinent to note that, Rajdeep earlier in August, in an interview, had shockingly claimed, “Sushant Singh Rajput is not such a big star that Mumbai Police should be put under so much pressure.”

Rajdeep’s liberal friends, Ravish Kumar and Shekhar Gupta were also not to be left behind. Ravish Kumar, who should otherwise be proud of Sushant, a son of Bihar who made it big in India’s Bollywood industry, shared an NDTV article which blames right-wing populism for the limelight which the Sushant Singh Rajput case is getting. Taking to Facebook, the ever-irritated journalist captioned the article as, “The obsession with Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death signals a dangerous turn in India’s polity.”

Shekhar Gupta’s The Print, though, decided to further lower the discourse as Jyoti Yadav, who is a ‘journalist’ at the publication, thought it fit to stereotype Bihar as a state where toxicity in families forms an integral part of everyone’s life. While she seems rather agitated with all Bengalis being stereotyped due to Rhea Chakraborty, the author brazenly stereotypes Bihari families as those being ‘toxic’ in nature, where the boys are expected to be the Shravan Kumars their entire lives. The article also goes on to spread a rather false narrative of Bihari families not giving their sons any autonomy to make life decisions, not to mention, them frowning upon the prospect of their son being controlled or snatched by a girlfriend from the big cities.

It is shameful how the so-called harbingers of democracy and free speech are working overtime to gag and stifle the investigation and hoodwink the entire nation into believing that Sushant’s death was indeed a case of suicide.
